The New York Giants finished in second place of the NFC East standings and would’ve punched a ticket to the playoffs if not for dropping three of four to non-divisional opposition to close out the year. The Giants ultimately pushed against their closing season win total odds with a 6-10 overall record. With that, it’s now been four straight seasons that the franchise has been unable to exceed linemaker’s expectations at online sportsbooks. If you can believe it, New York hasn’t won the NFC East since 2011 when it won the first of two Super Bowls under Eli Manning’s watch. The pieces are in place for the GMEN to win what’s expected to be a competitive division title race, but it’s ability to do so will ultimately fall upon the shoulders of Daniel Jones who can only be considered a bust since NY nabbed him with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. So when attacking the Giants win total in 2021-22, you must determine whether you’re buying or selling ‘Danny Dimes’ in his third season running the offensive attack.
New York Giants Season Win Total: 7 Over -138
Should you be bullish on the Giants entering the 2021-22 NFL betting season, just know that the franchise is tied with the New York Jets over the last four seasons with the worst record in the sport at 18-46. That equates to an average of 4.5 wins and 11.5 losses. Surprisingly, their win total hit the board a full win higher than last season (7). Even more head scratching, the over has taken a bulk of the action and because of it -138 vig is attached to the high side of the impost. Most of the anticipation likely has to deal with the offseason acquisition of Kenny Golladay, and Saquon Barkley expected to be fully healed and ready to shoulder the load in the backfield. What has me bullish about the GMEN in 2021 is the defense. It dramatically improved under the watch of first-year defensive coordinator Patrick Graham in allowing just over 22 points (No. 9) and a hair under 350 yards (No. 12) per game. The unit should only improve with the addition of Adoree Jackson in free agency and Azeez Ojulari in the draft.

New York Giants Season Win Total Analysis
I was forced to settle for a push after betting on the Giants to surpass their win total odds a season ago. I’m still bullish on this team regardless! The offense could ultimately rank out as one of the best in the NFL with all the playmakers littered up and down the roster. The addition of Golladay gives Jones the big-bodied receiver he’s yet to have in his two years running the show in Gotham. Pairing him up with Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard should see the Giants passing attack flourish. With Toney added to the mix, opposing defenses will have their hands full when the GMEN decide to run four and five wide receiver sets. And don’t forget about Evan Engram or the addition of veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph! Then there’s Barkley in the backfield playing the role of the straw that stirs the drink. So long as NY’s questionable offensive line puts forth average numbers both run and pass blocking as well as protecting the quarterback, the sky’s the limit for OC Jason Garrett; let’s just hope he doesn’t muck it all up with conservative play-calling like he’s done in the past!
I think 10 wins will be good enough to win the NFC East this season. Though Dallas will enter the regular season the odds on +126 favorite to win it, I’m not a believer in Coach McCarthy and still think Dallas will have issues on the defensive side of the ball. In my opinion, bragging rights will be decided by either the Washington Football Team or GMEN with each boasting the best defenses in the division. NY should hold the upper hand in the offensive department. They get the AFC West, NFC South and standalone games against the Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears. In all, Sharp Football Stats ranks the schedule as the 11th toughest in the league and second toughest in the division. It’ll also be forced to play nine of its 17 scheduled games on the road. The first five weeks will be crucial towards cashing an over ticket. The GMEN open with Denver – a game already installed a pick ‘em – and have to oppose both Washington and Dallas on the road along with winnable games against the Falcons (home) and Saints (road). Should New York log a 4-1 or 3-2 record at worst in those matchups, it’ll be well on its way towards ending that streak of unders and be in a position to compete for division honors.
