We hit the quarter mark of the 2018 NFL regular season and there’s plenty we still don’t know. Will the Patriots turn things around? Are the Steelers as bad as they’ve looked in the early going? Are the Rams and Chiefs the real deal? There is time to pick a mid-tier team on the odds board with plenty of value, but right now the Rams are above the rest at BookMaker.eu with odds of +215 to win Super Bowl 53.
Oddsmakers still have faith in the Pats, who remain the second favorite for another Super Bowl victory at +741. Early season losses are nothing new for New England and after dropping two straight by double-digits, the Pats returned to form for at least one week with a thumping of the undefeated Dolphins. If you believe in the magic of Tom Brady and the wisdom of Bill Belichick, now’s the time to jump on the defending AFC champs. As we’ve seen in the past, they tend to get on a roll and when they do, the odds will shrink.
Here are the current Super Bowl 53 odds at BookMaker.eu after Week 4 of the 2018 NFL regular season.

The Rams and Chiefs are clearly the class of their conference at the one-quarter mark and they are the only undefeated teams remaining. The Rams will have to deal with injuries on defense after the loss of cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters. That was certainly a distraction last week as they allowed Kirk Cousins and the Vikings to go off. But there are no issues on offense and Jared Goff has performed even better this season than he did in 2017. The odds are low right now and the Rams could be had for a better price later in the season.
While the Chiefs have shown to be explosive on offense, their defense is a major issue and sooner or later that’s going to catch up with them. Patrick Mahomes can’t outduel everyone and opponents will figure him out, exposing KC. They came off as the third favorite this week at +752, and like the Rams they could be bought for a better price later in the season.
Until New England doesn’t reach the Super Bowl and Brady retires, the Pats are always a threat to win the big game. We heard all the talk about them being done after a loss to Detroit, but the Pats responded last week and following a 2-2 start in 2017, they rattled off 11 wins in their final 12 games to reach another Super Bowl.
One other team is pegged with odds of better than +1000 and that’s the Jacksonville Jaguars, who came in at +987. The Jags are just the opposite of KC with an elite defense and an inconsistent offense. We’ve seen some of the same issues with Blake Bortles, particularly in a loss to Tennessee, when the offense did nothing. Bortles alone has kept the Jags from moving up the odds board, but they still have value at their current price.
It looks like the future is now for the Bears and if you believe Khalil Mack is a game-changer you better jump on them right now. Chicago charged up the odds board to their current +2868 and Mack makes a good defense great. Now, if Mitchell Trubisky and the offense can catch up ... wait, didn’t he have six touchdown passes last week? The Bears could be this year’s Philadelphia Eagles.
