When the NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday, April 25, fans will have a chance to wager on a number of prop bets, from who will be taken with the first overall pick and which player will be selected second overall, to the draft position of certain collegians. The NFL Draft has become such a popular event that it gets as much action as any regular season game and, of course, BookMaker.eu is here to take care of all your wagering needs.
Kyler Murray appears to be a lock for the No. 1 overall pick with negative odds of -500. Where he goes remains a mystery since the Arizona Cardinals have the first pick, but they also have a quarterback drafted with the 10th pick last year. And that conundrum has sparked plenty of intrigue in betting circles. If Murray is the top pick, who goes second? And if the Cardinals keep the No. 1 pick, what happens to incumbent Josh Rosen? All those questions will be answered on April 25 and the speculation and rumors will run wild until then.
Sam Darnold was widely viewed as the No. 1 pick last season until Cleveland turned around and took Baker Mayfield. Because a player is the favorite doesn’t mean things will work out the way all the so-called experts who spent months preparing their mock drafts say they will. The first overall pick and which team takes him will start the dominos falling, so let’s dive into some action.
First Overall Pick - 2019 NFL Draft
Kyler Murray, Oklahoma -500
Nick Bosa, Ohio State +225
Quinnen Williams, Alabama +1800
Josh Allen, Kentucky +2000
Wowing teams with his incredible talent at the combine and pro days, Murray has moved to the betting favorite as the top overall pick. New Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury is totally enamored with Murray’s ability and this looks like a match that is set to happen. However, the Cards need a lot more than just Murray to turn their hopes around. And if the offensive line isn’t improved, Murray will fare as well as Rosen did in 2018.
Second Overall Pick - 2019 NFL Draft
Nick Bosa, Ohio State -280
Quinnen Williams, Alabama +335
Kyler Murray, Oklahoma +600
Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State +1300
Josh Allen, Kentucky +1400
If things fall into place the San Francisco 49ers will have their pick of the litter among the best defensive players available. Needing help in the pass rush, the Niners are likely to target Ohio State’s Nick Bosa, who has proven to the type of player that can make an impact at the NFL level. However, Bosa’s medical history could drive him down a few spots and there are several players who could fill the void. Either way, expect the Niners to go with an edge rusher with the No. 2 pick.
Which Team Will Josh Rosen be on Week 1 2019 Regular Season
Washington Redskins +102
Arizona Cardinals +230
NY Giants +562
LA Chargers +958
New England Patriots +4141
Cincinnati Bengals +5000
Field (Any Other Team) +387
There are teams in immediate need of help at quarterback and Rosen is a trade chip the Cards will use, assuming they take Murray with the No. 1 pick. There is no reason to keep two first-round QBs on the roster so expect a trade on draft day. Rosen struggled in his debut NFL season, but let’s face it he didn’t have the best team in front of him. A banged up offensive line that would have a hard time in the AAF hung the kid out to dry.
Rosen would benefit from a year as understudy to Tom Brady in New England, Philip Rivers in San Diego and even Eli Manning in New York. The Redskins need a quarterback right now with the future of Alex Smith and Colt McCoy unknown after they both got injured last season. Another team needing a QB is Jacksonville, which decided to move on from Blake Bortles. And the Dolphins’ rebuild will require a new signal caller after the Ryan Tannehill era came to an end.
