Odds Analysis
Buccaneers linebacker Devin White has been listed as the favorite to finish as the Defensive Rookie of the Year. His odds come in at +702 as the oddsmakers believe the former LSU linebacker could post big numbers as a rookie. Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Todd Bowles is known for his creative usage of linebackers and could use White as a lethal chess piece right away.
Bosa has the second-best odds at +727. He is a pretty good pick as he could make an impact on the edge right away, although if Bosa doesn’t play full-time as a rookie it could eat into his sack total. Fellow defensive lineman Quinnen Williams has +782 odds. These odds should be stayed away from because defensive tackles don’t generally put up big numbers, which could hurt Williams in the voting even if he is a good run defender.
Linebacker Devin Bush comes in at +752 odds, as he is another player who could put up a lot of tackles and make a variety of other plays. Bills defensive end Ed Oliver has +1508 odds, as does Jaguars outside linebacker Josh Allen and Redskins outside linebacker Montez Sweat.
Clelin Ferrell was the surprise pick at No. 4 in the draft but the oddsmakers aren’t too high on his chances as the pass-rusher has +2014 odds to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Another defensive end is in the mix as Panthers defensive end Brian Burns has +2014 odds like Ferrell, as does Lions linebacker Jahlani Tavai, the first second-round pick on the list.
An interesting longshot choice is Cardinals cornerback Byron Murphy. He was the first pick of the second round and figures to get immediate playing time with the team’s Pro Bowl cornerback, Patrick Peterson, suspended for six games. Murphy has +4500 odds and if he can grab four or five interceptions and put up decent tackle numbers, he could pay off handsomely.

There is no clear favorite in the Defensive Rookie of the Year wagering, as there are plenty of prospects who could make an immediate impact. While White makes sense as the favorite, it is smarter to choose an underdog when things could go a number of different ways.
Oliver is joining an already-strong defense and is playing a position that could help him rack up the sacks. At these odds he is the best choice to win Defensive Rookie of the Year in NFL gambling.
