Both teams are coming off frustrating losses in a way no one could have possibly imagined. And they will try and get over that by hanging an L on each other when the New England Patriots visit the Pittsburgh Steelers in a Week 15 tilt on Sunday. Despite their dramatic defeats both teams continue to lead their division, though the Steelers advantage in the NFC North has become much closer after their third straight loss. After losing in Miami last year, the Pats strolled into the Steel City and knocked off the home team to secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Once again the Pats are coming off a loss in Miami, only this one was much tougher to digest.

The producers of those fantastic finishes highlight shows got plenty of new material last week with just these two teams. The Pats have done everything right over the last two decades as the premier franchise in the NFL, but they were posterized last week by the Dolphins, giving up a final play double-lateral that resulted in Miami’s game-winning touchdown. We’re just not used to seeing those things happen to the Pats, so maybe it’s a sign that the dynasty is crumbling.
Losing in Miami is nothing new for the Pats, who experienced the same fate last year and in five of the past six years. It’s not like the Dolphins have been great over that time, because they haven’t, and that makes the losses even more puzzling, but even Superman had his kryptonite.
The Pats are not in danger of missing the postseason, but they had better get some of their road woes ironed out. All four of their losses have been away from Foxboro where they are 3-4 SU and ATS with three of those defeats by double-digits. The Pats rolled into Heinz Field last year after a loss to the Dolphins that raised many of the same questions they’re facing today. We know how that turned out for them. The Pats won that game and didn’t lose again until the Super Bowl.
Offensively they look in good shape. Brady had another brilliant game that was overshadowed by the ending. He threw for 358 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions completing 63 percent of his throws. Sony Michel appears recovered from his knee and back ailments that limited him the past few weeks and Rex Burkhead made a triumphant return to the lineup. Josh Gordon has provided a deep threat in the passing game and Rob Gronkowski is doing his usual damage. I can see Brady reaching the over on his passing yards with Gronk having a major haul in receptions on prop bets at BookMaker.eu.
Ben Roethlisberger stated the obvious after Sunday’s game, saying “we’re not playing very well.” Thanks for the insight Big Ben, but we could have figured that out on our own after watching the Steelers lose their third in a row, falling to the Raiders 24-21. That could’ve been avoided had Chris Boswell not slipped while attempting a game-tying field goal in the closing seconds. When it rains it pours.
And it’s been a collection of problems for the Steelers. The offense struggled against a weak Oakland defense and the absence of James Connor was a factor in the run game. Pittsburgh had just 40 yards on 19 attempts. Big Ben was a little better in the passing game with 282 yards and two touchdowns on 25 of 29 passing, however he exited the game with a rib injury, missing a few series before returning. Roethlisberger said he’s good to go this week, but the status of Conner is uncertain. That means more throws for Big Ben and after watching Ryan Tannehill have a field day that might be a good thing for the Steelers. Roethlisberger will throw the football a lot as he usually does and JuJu Smith-Schuster has become the top target. Antonio Brown will continue to get plenty of attention, leaving JuJu free to rack up the catches and yards on the live betting lines at BookMaker.eu.

Don’t be surprised to see the Pats string together a couple of lengthy drives on Sunday. Pittsburgh has allowed four scoring drives over 70 yards and another of 64 yards during their skid with two of them going for game-winners in the final minutes. And we all know Brady is a master at extending drives and comebacks.
