The Kansas City Chiefs visit the Chicago Bears on Sunday night in a game that can be seen on NBC. The Chiefs have already clinched the AFC West but they still have a shot at the No. 2 seed in the AFC so they will not be taking this game lightly, while the Bears are out of playoff contention. Kansas City features the more potent offense led by Patrick Mahomes, while the Bears have the better defense led by Khalil Mack. Let’s look at Sunday’s game and NFL picks.
This NFL regular season game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears will be held at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday, December 22, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on NBC.

Odds Analysis
Kansas City opened as a 4-point favorite and bettors are pounding the Chiefs, as Kansas City is now a six-point favorite. The total opened at 45 and has moved down slight to 44. The Chiefs are 9-5 ATS this season, including 4-2 ATS on the road, while the Bears are 4-10 ATS, including 3-4 ATS at home.
Kansas City’s Defense Starting to Shine
Most people will think of Chicago’s defense as the one that is great, but Kansas City’s defense has played much better in recent weeks. The Bears rank third in the league in defense, but Kansas City under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has started to figure things out and the Chiefs have been really good lately. Kansas City has ranked second in the league in third down defense in the last three games. Kansas City actually ranks 5th in the NFL in total defense over the last three games and they are first in points allowed at just 9.3 per game. The Chiefs also signed veteran pass rusher Terrell Suggs and he may be able to help Kansas City down the stretch.
NFL Trends
The Chiefs are 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 road games. The Bears are 19-9-1 ATS in their last 29 home games. The Under is 4-0 in the Chiefs last 4 games overall. Kansas City is 12-5 in the Chiefs last 17 road games. The Under is 10-2 in the Bears last 12 games in December. The Under is 8-2 in the Bears last 10 home games.
Series Note
The Bears lead the all-time series 7-5, but the teams have not met since 2015 when the Bears pulled out an 18-17 win.
NFL Pick
If you have watched the Chiefs and Bears this season you might have been frustrated by the offenses. Yes, the Kansas City offense can be explosive at times with Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, but this is not last year’s offense that couldn’t be stopped. On the other side, the Bears have struggled for much of the year to score points as Mitch Trubisky does not look like a franchise quarterback and head coach Matt Nagy doesn’t look like the wunderkind offensive coordinator that people thought he was. Kansas City has been much better in recent weeks on defense and they should be able to contain a pedestrian Chicago offense. The Chicago defense is good, but they are not at the level they were a year ago and you have to wonder about how motivated Chicago will be after being eliminated from playoff contention. I lean toward the Chiefs in this one and I also like the game to go under the total.
