NFL Odds – Seattle Seahawks Regular Season Win Total Set at 8

2018-Seattle-Seahawks-Win-Total-Bookmaker-Online-Odds

The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the best teams in the NFL for several years but had a rough offseason, losing many key players either through injury or free agency. Star quarterback Russell Wilson is still around to lead the way but expectations are much lower this season than in the past.

This is going to be an interesting year for the Seahawks, as there is so much more unknown that in the past. Oddsmakers aren’t completely discounting the team’s ability to stay relevant but the bettors are clear in that they believe a rare losing season is on the horizon.

For those optimistic about Seattle’s chances, this is an enticing win total wager in NFL gambling.

2018 Seahawks Offense Preview

Wilson is one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL, capable of beating opposing teams with his arms and his legs. He never had to take many chances in years past because the defense was so good but now more will be expected from the offense. Doug Baldwin is his go-to receiver and he could be in line for a big year.

The Seahawks drafted Rashaad Penny in the first round of the draft as they have struggled to move the ball on the ground ever since the departure of Marshawn Lynch. If he can give the team a semblance of a running game Seattle should be decent on offense.

2018 Seahawks Defense Preview

The Seahawks have been one of the best defenses in the NFL the past several years. They were led by the Legion of Boom secondary but all the key players of that group are currently gone. Cornerback Richard Sherman was released and signed with the 49ers, safety Kam Chancellor was forced to retire due to a neck injury and safety Earl Thomas is currently holding out because he wants a new contract.

If Thomas comes back, he is an All-Pro talent and linebacker Bobby Wagner is still around to lead the way. However, the secondary has gone from a huge strength to a question mark, and the defensive line lost Michael Bennett this offseason. For the first time in several years, there are legitimate questions about Seattle’s ability to slow opponents down.

2018 Seattle Seahawks Schedule Analysis

The Seahawks have a manageable schedule early on and need to make hay because it gets tough later on. Seattle has a stretch in the second half of the year which includes games against the Chargers, Rams, Packers, Panthers, 49ers, Vikings and Chiefs. Seattle needs to be above .500 heading into this stretch because it could take some lumps against elite foes.

The Seahawks will wrap up with a winnable game at home against the Cardinals as they hope to be in playoff contention at that point in the season. That has always been the case in recent seasons but it’s unknown what kind of record Seattle will have this year.

The Final Verdict

The Seahawks may no longer be a dominant team, but the schedule is not too bad early on and the team still has talent. If Thomas returns to the fold, the defense shouldn’t fall off the cliff. Wilson should keep the offense rolling and this team will be a tough out.

The “under” is the heavy favorite, but this one is going to be close. It wouldn’t be a huge shock to see the Seahawks somehow claim nine wins and keep their streak of winning seasons alive in NFL odds.
