The NFL season hasn’t even started, but the oddsmakers can be a fickle bunch, and they are already projecting which coach will be the first to lose his job. Many coaches are safe, after coming off successful seasons or being newly hired by an organization. However, there are some that figure to head into the season on the hot seat and others who could suddenly be under fire if the beginning of the season doesn’t go well.
There are some long-time coaches on the list as well as a few early in their tenures that have not found success. It will be interesting to see which coach is indeed the first one fired during the 2018 regular season in NFL special props betting.

Odds Analysis
The coach with the lowest odds to get fired during the season is Cleveland’s Hue Jackson. He has compiled only one victory over the past two seasons but was brought back for his third with the team. The Browns drafted Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick and acquired Tyrod Taylor in a trade, so their quarterback situation should be markedly improved. However, a slow start could mean the end of the road for Jackson.
Another coach on the hot seat is Tampa Bay’s Dirk Koetter. The team and quarterback Jameis Winston have not progressed as hoped, and the Buccaneers are a team that could be looking for a coaching change if things don’t get better.
The Broncos struggled last season but have high expectations once again in 2018. If they don’t get there, Vance Joseph could be feeling insecure about his prospects of finishing out the season. Miami’s Adam Gase has a team that is in the midst of a rebuild, and it’s unknown on how solid of footing he will be if the Dolphins struggle as expected in 2018. The Bengals’ Marvin Lewis is another coach who may go if his team doesn’t show some promise.
One of the most intriguing names on the list is Jets coach Todd Bowles. He helped lead the team to a nice season in 2017 without much talent but now has Sam Darnold at quarterback. If the offense is inept and the Jets don’t play well, Bowles could be gone, and that would pay off nicely for those who choose him.
It seems unlikely a coach like Pete Carroll is fired after all of his success with the Seahawks, but stranger things have happened in the NFL. The pick of no coach fired during the season actually has the lowest odds, although the guess here is that someone does get the ax. The field is an intriguing choice as it’s hard to know which teams are going to struggle and what kind of dramatic issues arise throughout the league which could lead to an unexpected firing in NFL special props wagering.
NFL Betting Odds
The choice here is Koetter. He was almost sent packing a year ago and figures to be on a short leash. His hiring was questionable at the outset and Tampa Bay will need to bring in some new blood in hopes of kickstarting Winston’s career.
