The one thing about playing a money line parlay card is that all picks have to win in order to cash the ticket. Getting four out of five is nice, but it’s still a losing bet. And that’s what happened to us last week. The favorites came through for us with Kansas City and the two Los Angeles teams taking care of business. Picking the straight up winner in those games was the smart play. They were all heavily favored so it impacted our projected payout total.
Going with the Bills as one of our underdog selections proved to be a shrewd move. Buffalo slapped the Jets silly behind the fourth starting quarterback of the season. Matt Barkley moved ahead of Nathan Peterman on the depth chart and led the team to 41 points, an avalanche for a team that was averaging around 11 entering the contest. We missed on our Jacksonville upset pick, but we’ll get right back on the saddle in Week 11, diagnosing and analyzing games for our weekly money line parlay picks.
Money Line Parlay Favorites
To improve your odds of cashing a winning money line parlay card it’s always a smart play to pick a few favorites. Going with all favored teams gives you a better a chance to win, however the payout isn’t nearly as hefty as what it would be if there were a few underdogs on the card. To increase the odds of a winning ticket and a better payout, we’re going to look at a five-team money line parlay with three favored teams and two underdogs.
Three games opened with double-digit spreads last week giving us some gimmes among our favorites. That’s not the case in Week 11 with only one game higher than a touchdown and extra point when the lines surfaced. And that’s a game I’m not too confident in picking the chalk. Instead I’ll save the desperate Eagles as my big upset pick over the heavily-favored Saints. Now back to the faves.
One team that’s on a roll and one that’s banged up has me leaning toward the Texans in their road tilt with Washington. Houston is coming off its bye and enters the week with a six-game winning streak. The Skins are devastated by injuries again and the offensive line is a patch-work unit. I don’t see the Skins scoring many points and Deshaun Watson had a week to get healthier. I’ll go with the Texans on my money line parlay card in this matchup.
We went with the Bolts last week and they came through as a big favorite over the Raiders. Playing at home for the first time in almost a month, the Chargers look to continue their winning ways with a matchup against the Broncos, and they’ve been playing stellar defense, which makes us like them even more. We all know what Philip Rivers and Melvin Gordon can do, but Derwin James is having a Rookie of the Year season and the Chargers held Oakland without a touchdown last week.
And speaking of the Raiders, Derek Carr tossing the ball into the turf on a fourth-down pass play is a microcosm of their season. Just when you though it couldn’t get any worse, it does. There are reports of some veterans wanting out and that’s not good. Jon Gruden might have a plan, and the Raiders have stockpiled draft picks by trading away their top players, but we won’t see the results for a few years, if at all. In the meantime, the losing will continue and the Cardinals get the honors this week.
Underdog Winners
The Eagles are the biggest underdogs of the week getting 9-points in their tilt with the Saints. I’m not ready to count the defending champs out just yet, even after they dropped a lackluster game to the Cowboys on Sunday night. And they are in desperation mode after falling below .500 and further off the pace in the NFC. This is still a good team and they will get their secondary issues resolved before Sunday. It’ll take a shootout to beat the Saints, but I like the chances of Carson Wentz and his playmakers.
And how ‘bout them Boys? Showing off some offensive firepower and unleashing Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas got a huge victory over the Eagles last week. The Falcons are having all kinds of problems stopping teams and that issued manifested last week in a loss to the Browns. Dallas is sneaky good on defense and I like them to put the Falcons out of their playoff misery with a crucial road win as an underdog on my money line parlay card.
