Coming within an upset pick or cashing our five-team money line parlay card last week, we move ahead to Week 13 with the intention of beating the house. There were some huge favorites last week and we hit on our three with the Saints, Chargers and Patriots all coming through. They were so dominant that they all covered a double-digit spread to boot. We bought the Browns as a +3 dog before that line was wagered to a pick ‘em and they hit for us by stomping the Bengals. Our lone miss looked like a sure winner for most of the game with the Giants blowing a big lead and falling on the road to the Eagles.
The opening Week 13 lines at BookMaker.eu have produced more crazy numbers as teams jockeying for playoff positioning square off with clubs that have started prep work for 2019. Kansas City opened as a 15-point road favorite for their AFC West tilt with the Raiders, and despite their 4-6-1 record, the Packers are a two-touchdown favorite over Arizona. Let’s diagnose and analyze games for our Week 13 money line parlay picks.
Money Line Parlay Favorites
To improve your odds of cashing a winning money line parlay card it’s always a smart play to pick a few favorites. Going with all favored teams gives you a better a chance to win, however the payout isn’t nearly as hefty as what it would be if there were a few underdogs on the card. To increase the odds of a winning ticket and a better payout, we’re going to look at a five-team money line parlay with three favored teams and two underdogs.
It’s hard to ignore just how good the Chiefs are, and it’s equally hard to ignore how bad the Raiders are. I guess that’s why the line is set as high as it is. KC opened as 15-point chalk for Sunday’s tilt, and that’s not even the highest line they’ve played against this season. Three weeks ago the Chiefs closed as a 16.5-point favorite in their home game against Arizona. KC won that game but failed to cover. In the betting age of point spreads, we couldn’t find an instance when the Chiefs were favored by this many points for a road game.
Following an impressive road win in Carolina, the only thing preventing Seattle from adding to their streak would be a letdown for their encounter with the 49ers. Even though tempers have cooled somewhat in this NFC West matchup that was once the most feared rivalry in football, there remains an intense desire to hand it to the other side. And having Richard Sherman defect to the Bay Area was slap in the face to the Seahawks. And besides, if the Seahawks fail to win this game, they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs.
Another huge favorite that won’t win us much on the money line if we wagered just this game, but joined on a five-team parlay card should get us a needed win are the Packers over Arizona. Green Bay has fallen further out of the playoff race after losses to Seattle and Minnesota and the Pack desperately needs a win to keep any hope alive. You might recall two seasons ago when the Packers were 4-6, prompting Aaron Rodgers to say his team will run the table. They did, winning their last six to reach the playoffs. Rodgers hasn’t guaranteed anything, but you know he’s thinking about it. And the Cardinals are the first obstacle in his way.
Underdog Winners
Picking the underdog winners is always the tricky part of a money line parlay. Sure, you could go with all the favored teams, but the payout isn’t worth it and what’s the fun in that. So, taking a closer look at the opening lines, where can we win some money? The Cowboys are on a roll having won three straight. And they are at home this week as a 7-point dog. But they get the hottest team on the planet in the Saints and it just hard to bet against New Orleans as good as they’ve looked on both sides of the football.
Instead, we are going with the Chargers as one of our upset specials. The Bolts are a 3-point pup for Sunday night’s game against the Steelers, and their defense is good enough to give Ben Roethlisberger fits. Having Joey Bosa back will help the pass rush and if Philip Rivers is close to being as good as he was last week, I like LA’s chances. Playing the Patriots in Foxboro in December is never easy, but the Vikings have the tools to pull off the upset. The defense was strong in shutting down Rodgers and Kirk Cousins had one of his better games. If that all carries over, I like Minnesota to get out of Gillette Stadium with a critical win for its playoff hopes.
