We teased our lines just right last week and hit our four-team teaser picks to cash the winning ticket, and the games weren’t even close. Playing the Saints has been a winner for nine straight weeks, and moving the line in our favor only made it that much easier. Turns out we didn’t even have to tease that one as New Orleans covered the spread anyway. We bought the Pats at -9.5 for their game with the Jets and teased it in our favor. And we didn’t need to tease that one either.
It was a glorious week on our teaser picks and we’ll look to continue our heater in Week 13. It may appear easy to pick when moving the line and spread in your favor, but it never is when wagering on a game as unpredictable as the NFL. Full of confidence after last week’s win, we’ll move ahead to Week 13, which includes several intriguing matchups like the Saints at Cowboys Thursday night affair, a huge Sunday night AFC tilt between the Bolts and Steelers and a NFC East battle on Monday featuring the Skins and Eagles. Let’s try our luck in hopes of beating the house again with our top teaser picks of the week.
New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys
Current Line: Saints -7.5
Teaser Line: Saints -1.5
We’ve learned over the past nine weeks not to go against the Saints. And despite all the talk early this week from the Cowboys about how that Saints aren’t all that, it’s still hard to bet against them. The Cowboys are on their own roll and sound pretty cocky heading into this matchup. A Thanksgiving Day win over Washington moved them into first place in the NFC East and they have been strong defensively all season. Dallas has the third-best scoring defense at 19.3 points per game and hasn’t allowed more than 28 points in a game this season. But they haven’t faced a team like the Saints, who have burned better defenses this year. New Orleans opened as a 7.5-point favorite and moving that to -1.5 should be more than enough for the visitors to cover.
Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders
Current Total: 56
Teaser Total: 50
We watched the Chiefs put up 51 points in an epic Monday night battle with the Rams a few weeks ago, so it’s scary to think what they could do against Oakland’s weak defense. That makes the over a smart play and teasing the total to 50 is like money in the bank. The strength of the Raiders defense is against the pass, which has them ranked 15th in the league. But when opponents can simply run through them, why throw the football? The Chiefs can do both, and they do them well. Kareem Hunt is the fifth-leading rusher in the league with 824 yards and Patrick Mahomes has thrown for over 3,600 yards with a NFL-high 37 touchdown passes. We’ll probably need the Raiders to score a few points to cash the over, but not that many.
Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans
Current Line: Texans -6
Teaser Line: Pick ‘em
Is Gregg Williams the answer in Cleveland? We don’t know for sure, but what we do know is that Hue Jackson wasn’t. We have seen a drastic change in the Browns since making the switch, and it’s not just in the win/loss column. That’s where everything is measured, however, and the Browns are 2-1 since Williams took over. But we’ve also seen No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield respond to the new staff. Mayfield tossed four touchdown passes in a win over the Bengals last week and has seven scoring tosses without being intercepted or sacked while completing 78 percent of his passes in the last two. The Browns are feeling good about themselves after snapping a long road losing streak, but the Texans are ecstatic over their performance. They won for the eighth straight time on Monday and look like a legitimate threat in the AFC. Houston’s defense is good and Mayfield will fall back from the perch he’s on.
Arizona Cardinals at Green Bay Packers
Current Line: Cardinals +14
Teaser Line: Cardinals +20
Normally I wouldn’t go against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers at home against a bad Cardinals team. But these aren’t normal times. The Pack has been decimated by injuries, Rodgers looks off his game, and teasing the line to Cards +20 is too good to pass up. Green Bay is in desperation mode needing to win out to have any chance of reaching the postseason, so they will go all out. But they aren’t the same team as we saw earlier in the season. The receiving corps and offensive line have been hit hard and Rodgers has paid the price. Green Bay will likely win this game, but doing so by 20 points is not going to happen. The Cards are bad, but they aren’t that bad.
