It sure would be nice to hit a four-team winner on my NFL parlay picks since it has yet to happen. And with only five weeks remaining in the 2022 regular season time is running out. Not to be discouraged by last week’s results that saw me split four games, I’ll move ahead with all the confidence in my selections. After only one underdog on the closing NFL betting line won outright last week, I thought I would change things up a bit heading into Week 14.
For the entire season I broke down my picks with two favorites and two dogs as opposed to going with four or more random picks. This limits our options a bit especially when we have a week like we did last week. The Bengals were the only team catching points to win outright knocking off the Chiefs 27-24 as a 2.5-point dog. The favored team won 13 games with one other contest ending in a tie. So even if I had picked the Bengals, which I didn’t, my other moneyline dog would’ve been a loser ending any hope of a winning ticket. I could’ve bet dogs against the spread, but what fun is that? The payout is smaller and the chances of winning increase only slightly. Dogs went 5-10 ATS in Week 13.
I’ll recap last week first with my underdog picks. As I mentioned I didn’t back the Bengals instead going with the Dolphins on the moneyline against San Francisco. It looked good early when the Fins struck on the first offensive play, but Tua struggled otherwise and that one ended in the crapper with a 33-17 Niners win. And Tennessee at +206 didn’t show up for its game against the Eagles falling 35-10.
Though the ticket didn’t cash I felt better about my picks when my two favorites won. Backing the Vikings -3 against the Jets was a good move. Minnesota endured some anxious moments but held on for the 27-22 victory. And Green Bay finally got a win, which they’ve done a lot lately against the Bears, 28-19, covering the 4.5-point line. If something isn’t working it’s time to take a different approach so I’m deviating from my usual format. Here we are in Week 14 of the NFL season looking to hit a quartet of winners in a four-team parlay. The Jets have been a pleasant surprise this season and despite their 7-5 record they are catching 9.5-points for their tilt with first place Buffalo. Sure the Bills are widely viewed as a Super Bowl favorite, but the Jets are 6-3 in their last nine games with the losses by a total of 17 points. And let’s not forget the Jets beat Buffalo 20-17 as an 11-point dog in Week 9.
The Titans have done nothing for me the last two weeks and it might be a mistake going back to them, but it’s hard to overlook the dominance they’ve displayed over the Jaguars in recent years. Tennessee has eight straight home wins in the series and the Jags have been horrid on the road winning just one of their last 20 after getting blown out last week in Detroit. Titans laying 4-points looks like a sweet deal.
I guess it’s a good thing for the Chargers that Miami doesn’t run the football that well. Boasting the highest per carry average against, the LA defense can do better. Injuries have played a role, but after watching the Niners take care of the Fins last week the Bolts feel better about their chances. With Justin Herbert slinging the rock and LA in need of a victory, the Bolts get it done this week as a +154 moneyline dog.
It’s easy to enter a game as the backup QB since there is no pressure. Brock Purdy had a wonderful time last week leading the Niners, but now that he’s the guy things will be a little different. And the Bucs will game plan around Purdy making it more difficult. I like Tampa simply because of their advantage at QB and will take the 3.5-points.
A quick calculation with the stated odds has the four-team parlay paying out over $1600 on a $100 bet.That more than makes up for the plenty of near misses I had this season.
