NFL Week 14 Ugly Dog Picks

Some of the best bets in the NFL each week are oftentimes wagers on teams that are considered the worst in the league. If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works. The winning streak came to an abrupt halt last week, so we’ll look to bounce back this week. Let’s take a look at the Week 14 Ugly Dog picks.

Week 14 Ugly Dog Picks

Let me point out one fact that you are probably already aware of. When you bet these games, you are usually better off waiting until Sunday morning to make your wagers because you will probably get a better number than what I list from earlier in the week.

New York Jets +5.5 vs. New Orleans Saints

The Jets actually scored some points last week but they couldn’t contain Gardner Minshew and they didn’t get the cover against the Eagles. This week they face a New Orleans team that is having a lot of problems, especially on offense. The Saints went to Taysom Hill last week and the offense looked better at times, but Hill made too many mistakes and New Orleans lost their fifth straight game. The Jets might be able to hang around with the Saints so the points are worth taking.

Jacksonville Jaguars +9.5 at Tennessee Titans

The Jaguars are a regular in this column and that has been bad news for us, as the Jaguars are poorly coached and they have problems all over the field. The Titans are coming off their bye week and the team you want to play when you want to get well is Jacksonville. The Titans have not looked like a Super Bowl contender without Derrick Henry, but they should still dominate the Jaguars. This one is definitely ugly, but we take the Jaguars plus the points.

Houston Texans +7.5 vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Texans were a disgrace last week in a loss to Indianapolis, as the didn’t score a single point. Now the offense has lost starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor to injury and he is probably out this week. It may not be a big deal, as Taylor wasn’t playing well, but Davis Mills is sure not the answer. The Seahawks played better last week and they figure to dominate the Texans. This is another really ugly one, but we take the Texans plus the points.

Detroit Lions +8 at Denver Broncos

The Lions got us a win last week and it was actually an outright win, as they beat the Vikings. Detroit has some offensive talent and the defense can make some plays. The problem for Detroit is that they are poorly coached and Goff still makes a lot of mistakes. The Broncos were exposed last week by Kansas City and perhaps they will have a letdown. The Lions are still a bad team so they still fit the ugly dog category and that means we take them this week plus the points.

New York Giants +10.5 at Los Angeles Chargers

The Giants are in real trouble this week against the Chargers, as they will have to go without starting quarterback Daniel Jones. There is also a chance that backup Mike Glennon will be out, as he left last week’s game with a concussion. The Giants recently picked up Jake Fromm and he could be the starter this week. The Chargers usually score a lot of points and give up their share, but this week it is hard to see how the Giants will score a lot of points. This is another ugly dog as we take the Giants plus the points.

Chicago Bears +12.5 at Green Bay Packers

The Bears are probably going to have a new coach next season, as it seems unlikely Matt Nagy will be back. Chicago still has a few playmakers, but they have problems at quarterback, as neither Andy Dalton nor Justin Fields is any good. This is a rivalry game, so perhaps the Bears will play well and keep this one competitive but it is still hard to make a case for Chicago. This is not a column of opinion though, as we simply take the ugly dogs and that means we take the Bears plus the points.
