Are you ready for another week of ugly dog picks in the NFL? We are coming off a 2-2 record last week that takes the season record 30-25-2 ATS. Some of the best bets in the NFL each week are oftentimes wagers on teams that are considered the worst in the league. If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works.
There are six teams on bye this week so we have just three games to look at. Let’s look at the NFL Week 14 Ugly Dog picks.
Week 14 Ugly Dog Picks
Let me point out one fact that you are probably already aware of. When you bet these games, you are usually better off waiting until Sunday morning to make your wagers because you will probably get a better number than what I list from earlier in the week.
Los Angeles Rams +6 vs. Las Vegas Raiders
The Rams are on pace to become the worst defending Super Bowl champions in NFL history. The team is a shell of their former selves, as they have been decimated by injuries, especially on offense. The team is without quarterback Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp and while the defense still has some talented players, they were without Aaron Donald last week. On the other side, the Raiders were thought to be dead and buried a month ago, but they have rallied to win their last three games to get to 5-7. It is hard to believe that we would be seeing the Raiders laying a touchdown on the road against the defending Super Bowl champs, but that is where we are. The Rams at least showed some heart last week and were competitive against the Seahawks and gave us a win in this column last week. Let’s hope that the Rams will play hard again this week, as we take them plus the points as an ugly dog.

Houston Texans +17 at Dallas Cowboys
The one team that has hurt us consistently in this column is the Houston Texans, as they have the worst record in the league straight up and they are 4-7-1 ATS. We are pretty much stuck taking the Texans on a weekly basis as they are definitely an ugly dog. The Cowboys are coming off a big win against the Colts last week in a game that was actually very competitive until late in the game when the Colts just imploded. The Texans have shown very little but this is sort of a rivalry game with both teams located in the state of Texas so perhaps Houston will at least show some emotion. This number is also huge, as we rarely see NFL odds this high. It is still hard to make any case for taking the Texans, as they are definitely an ugly dog, but that is the point. We take the Texans plus the big points as an ugly dog.
Denver Broncos +9 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
The Broncos actually delivered a pointspread win for us last week, as they covered against the Ravens. It definitely helped that Lamar Jackson didn’t play for much of the game, but getting anything positive from Denver is a good thing. The Broncos are one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season and the offense is simply terrible. If Denver was not paying Russell Wilson so much money he would have been benched long ago. Wilson is not the only problem, as Nathaniel Hackett was a poor choice as head coach. The Chiefs should be able to dominate this Denver team, but this is the NFL and you never can tell from week to week. We’ll take the Broncos as an ugly dog.
