For the second straight week we just happened to pick the double-digit favorite that lost outright, blowing up our money line parlay card. Last week we had the Packers and they crumbled as a two-touchdown favorite to the Cardinals. Surely the Steelers could beat the lowly Raiders this week we thought. Pittsburgh lost a few games in a row and was due for a bounce back, and the Steelers were 10-point chalk in the black hole against a 2-win team. But it wasn’t to be and our five-team money line parlay card was tossed in the shredder. At least we didn’t pick the Patriots. We did nail the Bears over the Rams as one of our upset picks, so at least we can thump our chests over that. It didn’t bring us a winning ticket, however. We will move on to Week 15 and make another attempt at a winning five-team money line card parlay card as we try to beat the house. Let’s have a look at a few Week 15 games to make up a money line parlay card.
Money Line Parlay Favorites
To improve your odds of cashing a winning money line parlay card it’s always a smart play to pick a few favorites. Going with all favored teams gives you a better a chance to win, however the payout isn’t nearly as hefty as what it would be if there were a few underdogs on the card. To increase the odds of a winning ticket and a better payout, we’re going to look at a five-team money line parlay with three favored teams and two underdogs.
For the second straight week we saw a double-digit underdog win outright, so it’s probably a good thing that no game on the board had an opening line of 10 or more points. At least that way we can’t pick a big upset loser again. The top two teams in the AFC get the week started with the Chargers visiting the Chiefs. This should be a helluva ball game and I’m going to stay away from making a pick here. KC opened as a field-goal favorite by the way.
The NFL returns to Saturday football in Week 15 with two games on the docket. The first has the Houston Texans at the New York Jets and I just can’t get away from siding with the boys from the Lone Star state. The Texans saw their nine-game winning streak end with a loss to the Colts, but they won nine straight games. You have to be doing something right to accomplish that and the Texans certainly were. Defensively they are just too strong and I feel confident they will contain the Jets offense and get a victory.
The one team that just might be in worse shape than the Jaguars is Washington, and the Skins head to Jacksonville for a meeting on Sunday. Both teams absolutely stunk last week and I’m siding with the team that didn’t stink as much, and going with the favored Jags in this one. Besides, did you see Mark Sanchez play? He made Cody Kessler look like Tom Brady. Things were bad for the Skins in their loss to the Giants, but at least the fans didn’t boo. That’s because there were none left in the second half.
Sean McVay was so hard on himself after the Rams lost to the Bears on Sunday night that he’s either going to quit or work his ass off to make the team better. The former isn’t going to happen so expect the latter. And the Rams will be better prepared to handle the Eagles on Sunday night. The Rams tiptoed through their last two games, getting past the Lions and failing to score a touchdown against the Bears. They play at the Coliseum for the first time since that epic Monday night battle with the Chiefs a few weeks ago, and I fully expect to see the pre-bye Rams at work. They may not cover the 9-point spread, but they will get back in the win column.
Underdog Winners
In order to sweeten the pot on our money line parlay card payout, we’ll go with a few dogs, and there are several enticing teams to choose from. The Raiders are a 3-point pup and +135 on the money line against the Bengals, and the Silver and Black has shown some competitive fire the last two weeks. Meanwhile, the Bengals are wading through a five-game losing streak. But we’re going to pass on that game and instead move to the NFC North matchup between the Bears and Packers. The coaching change in Green Bay sparked the Pack in their win over the Falcons and the Bears haven’t been able to undo the spell Aaron Rodgers has on them. And expect a letdown from Chicago after pasting the Rams last week. At +218 on the money line, the Packers look like a good bet.
It’s hard to believe the Titans are 2.5-point dogs for their tilt with the Giants. Mike Vrabel has his team playing good football and the G-Men just had the benefit of playing a weakened Skins team. At +126 the Titans will help the payout on our five-team money line parlay card.
