Are you ready for another week of ugly dog picks in the NFL? We got off to a good start last week going 3-1 and this week we have a couple more plays to make six in total. Some of the best bets in the NFL each week are oftentimes wagers on teams that are considered the worst in the league. If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works. Let’s look at the NFL Week 2 Ugly Dog picks.
Week 2 Ugly Dog Picks
Let me point out one fact that you are probably already aware of. When you bet these games, you are usually better off waiting until Sunday morning to make your wagers because you will probably get a better number than what I list from earlier in the week.
New York Jets +6 at Cleveland Browns
The only loss last week for us came on the Jets, as they were pretty much noncompetitive against the Ravens. New York is stuck with Joe Flacco at quarterback for a least a few more weeks and he just can’t move around much. The one positive for New York is that their defense does look good. The Browns were not that impressive last week, but they can at least run the ball and their defense is solid. This has all the looks of a low scoring game and that may help the Jets. We’ll take the Jets plus the points as an ugly dog.
Jacksonville Jaguars +4 vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Jaguars didn’t look much better last week than they did a year ago and I still have my doubts about Trevor Lawrence as a franchise quarterback. I do think Doug Pederson is a good coach and he has this team headed in the right direction. I have no idea what to make of the Colts. There is no question they are overrated, as Matt Ryan is no better than Carson Wentz was, perhaps worse. We know the Colts can run the ball with Jonathan Taylor, so it won’t be easy for the Jaguars to stop him on Sunday. The Jaguars are at home, but this one is still ugly, as we take the Jaguars plus the points.

Atlanta Falcons +10.5 at Los Angeles Rams
The Falcons had every chance to win last week and found a way to lose against the Saints. Now they have to go into Los Angeles and face a Rams team coming off a loss. This has all the looks of a big win for the Rams, as the Falcons are expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. This one is definitely ugly, as we take the Falcons plus the points.
Dallas Cowboys +8 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Did you ever think you would see the Cowboys in the ugly dog column? We said that last week about the Seahawks and they ended up winning. Could the same thing happen here? It seems unlikely, as the Cowboys don’t have Dak Prescott and they are facing a Cincinnati team coming off a loss. The Cowboys are at home and perhaps they will rally behind Cooper Rush. We’ll take the Cowboys as an ugly dog.
Houston Texans +10 at Denver Broncos
The Texans had their chances to start the season with a win, but ended up with a tie against the Colts. Houston had some good moments and Davis Mills can make a few plays. Houston is not as bad as people think, but this is not a good spot on the road in Denver. The Broncos are coming off a loss and it is hard to see how the Texans go on the road and keep this one competitive. We’ll take the Texans plus the points as an ugly dog.
Chicago Bears +10 at Green Bay Packers
The Bears slogged their way to a win last week against an overrated San Francisco team and now they have to go into Green Bay and face a Packers team coming off a loss. The Packers look to be overrated and perhaps people have underrated the Bears a little bit. The public is going to be all over the Packers in this one and that gives us some line value. We’ll take the Bears as an ugly dog.
