With two weeks of the 2018 NFL regular season in the books, things are starting to come into focus, but the picture remains a little fuzzy. The Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars have started hot, which isn’t a complete surprise. But the Bucs, Fins and Bengals all undefeated at this point certainly is. Those three are a combined 6-0 ATS in the early going and have made backers a good amount of coin. Can they keep it up? Probably not, but who knows.
Week 3 offers up some intriguing matchups and those waiting for line moves have been disappointed. More than half the games on the slate haven’t moved from their opening spread and only one has shifted more than a point through the middle of the week. Betting the favorites last week was not a profitable move as they went just 5-11 ATS. Let’s have a look at where the early money is going for this week. And remember you can wager on every NFL game at Bookmaker.eu.
Week 3 Major Line Moves at BookMaker.eu
San Francisco 49ers at Kansas City Chiefs
Opening Line: Kansas City -4
Current Line: Kansas City -6.5
The biggest shift so far came in this game with the Chiefs moving from a 4-point favorite at the opening to -6.5 in a short period of time. With a pair of impressive outright road wins over two AFC contenders under their belt, the Chiefs play their home opener against the Niners and they are getting plenty of love from the betting public with over 80 percent of the early action backing the home team.
Oddsmakers are liking the high-powered Chiefs offense with the total also seeing a significant spike. With the over getting pounded with over 60 percent of the play, the total rose from an opening of 54.5 to 56.5. Patrick Mahomes set a NFL record with 10 touchdown passes in the first two games and KC is averaging a league-best 40 points per game. But as good as the Chiefs have been on offense, they’ve been equally bad defensively. The Chiefs pass defense is the worst and that’ll give Jimmy Garoppolo a chance to show off. Coupled with the NFL’s top ground attack, the Niners will try and slow this one down.
Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks
Opening Line: Dallas -1
Current Line: Seattle -1.5
The line for this game has been as wacky as the first two weeks of the season. Some books had the Seahawks as much as a field goal favorite initially, but BookMaker.eu posted Dallas as 1-point chalk on its opening line. The spread was quickly wagered and jumped the fence in favor of Seattle, settling at Seahawks -1.5. Neither team has looked good in the early season, but the Cowboys picked up their first win last week.
Seattle struggled in its games, pushing the line in a 3-point loss to Denver and not showing up until the final quarter in a loss to the Bears on Monday night. While the Seahawks have a different look this season, they still own the best home field advantage in the NFL, and that should be worth a few points.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Opening Line: Pittsburgh -2
Current Line: Pittsburgh -1
The Bucs have been the biggest surprise and Ryan Fitzpatrick the biggest story of the NFL season so for. When this game hit the Monday Night Football schedule, executives at ESPN were not happy, especially since Jameis Winston wouldn’t be playing. But FitzMagic changed that, and this will be the most watched MNF game of the season. The Bucs are playing like they have nothing to lose, and essentially they don’t. No one expected them to contend and most had them out of the playoff picture with a brutal three-game opening stretch.
But Tampa has defied the odds and Fitzpatrick has been unstoppable. Despite their 2-0 SU and ATS record, the Bucs didn’t get much support, opening as a 2-point home dog. A majority of the public is convinced, however, and the line was wagered down a full point.
