There’s always something that comes up and bites you in the rear end just when you think you have a winner. A number of bets have paid off since the start of the season, but unfortunately when playing a parlay, you need them all to work in your favor. It isn’t as easy as it sounds and we’ve yet to hit a four-teamer this season. I think a different strategy is needed and this week we’ll look at a few different options on our parlay card to hopefully come out ahead.
Now keep in mind this article is for informational purposes only. Every week I sift through a number of games finding the teams most likely to be a winner, either on the moneyline or against the spread. And like we’ve mentioned in previous articles, betting underdogs to win outright offer the biggest payouts. We hit one of our dog picks last week backing the Cowboys +5.5 in their matchup with the Rams. Winners of four in a row with payouts in each one, the Boys look like a strong dog pick at +6 in their Sunday night contest with the Eagles.
Betting the favorites on a parlay increases your chances of a winning ticket, but there are upsets every week in the NFL. Dallas was already mentioned and the Jets took advantage of a beat up Miami squad to win outright 40-17 as a 3-point home dog. Houston was catching 7-points in its 13-6 win over the Jags and the Giants beat Green Bay as an 8.5-point dog. I hit both favorites on the moneyline last week backing Minnesota and San Francisco. And while the Niners covered the Vikings weren’t so lucky.
Let’s take a look at the Week 6 NFL schedule for parlay card winners.
NFL Week 6 Betting Lines
Parlay Card Favorites
It’s always a sound strategy to include favorites on your parlay. The payout isn’t as great, but the odds of hitting a winner are a heck of a lot better. And keep in mind that picking a favorite against the spread pays better than on the moneyline. My two faves won outright last week with San Francisco throttling Carolina and Minnesota getting a late touchdown and turnover to get past Chicago. However, the Vikings failed to cover the 10-point line in their 29-22 triumph. What Week 6 favorites look like good bets?
I seem to be circling back to the Chargers quite a bit and here I am again looking at the Bolts laying 4.5-points in their Monday night matchup with Denver. This pick is more about the Broncos’ inability to score than it is about the Chargers, though Justin Herbert can go off at any time. And I’m perplexed by Denver’s struggles, which are a big concern now that we’re five weeks into the season.
We saw what happened to the Dolphins last week playing with their third-string quarterback, and it looks like Skyler Thompson will make his first start on Sunday against the Vikings with Tua Tagovailoa and Teddy Bridgewater out of action. Miami was rolled by the Jets and needs to recover quickly. Minnesota has been adequate on defense and can cause problems through the air with Kirk Cousins throwing to Justin Jefferson. I do like the Vikings -3.5 in this one.
Parlay Card Underdog Winners
I split my underdog picks last week and it’s always a crapshoot when handicapping teams and games. Like I said we know there are going to be upsets, it’s just a matter of honing in on the teams primed to do the upsetting. I backed Dallas last week +5.5 in their game with the Rams, and that proved to be a wise move since the Boys silenced LA.
Riding a four-game SU and ATS winning streak under Cooper Rush, why not back the Boys again? They get another tough opponent in the undefeated Eagles on the road, but the defense has been strong allowing fewer than 20 points in every game. I’m still not sold on Philly so give me Dallas at +211 on the moneyline.
A playoff rematch between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs is worthy of primetime, but instead it gets the late Sunday window. If the teams put on a show like they did in January it’ll be a treat. The Bills beat the Chiefs 38-20 last regular season before falling in OT in an epic divisional round contest. The Chiefs are still a beast and getting this game at home at +128 has me leaning toward Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
