Returning home after getting blown out in two straight road games was just what the San Francisco 49ers needed. They stopped a three-game losing streak with a win over the Bears making the NFC West even more congested. Games within the division will determine who wins it and we’ve got a good one to kickoff Week 15 when the Los Angeles Rams head north looking for their first regular season sweep of the 49ers since the 2018 season. The Rams staged a huge comeback scoring the game’s final 13 points in the last 6:15 to win the Week 3 matchup 27-24. It was LA’s second straight win in the series and their third straight payout. The early line at the Crypto Sportsbook has the Niners favored by 2.5-points.

The Rams have been one of the better teams over the last two months going 5-2 after a sluggish start that saw them win just one of their first five games. The tear coincided with the return of top pass catchers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, who both missed time earlier in the campaign. The duo returned in time for a 30-20 win over Minnesota, handing the Vikings only their second loss of the season.
Matthew Stafford has been efficient leading the offense completing 66 percent of his passes with only seven interceptions in 409 attempts heading into his Week 14 game with Buffalo. The Rams haven’t been as dynamic averaging just over 21 points, but they’ve come through when they had to. And the unit has been more diverse with Kupp and Nacua back in the lineup. In six game since returning Kupp has 40 receptions with four touchdowns and Nacua has 38 catches and two TDs. Kyren Williams is on the verge of a 1,000 yard season with 926 rushing yards and 10 TDs heading into LA’s Week 14 game with Buffalo.
How the mighty have fallen. One season after winning 12 games and the No. 1 seed in the NFC, the Niners are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. The good news is that the NFC West doesn’t have a clear cut leader with all four clubs having a realistic chance of winning. The season hit a low point in Week 13 with a 35-10 loss to Buffalo. It was the Niners third straight setback where they failed to score more than 17 points.
Facing a Bears club in disarray certainly helped the Niners. They scored 24 points in the first half, which was more than they had scored in any of their previous four games. They will have to navigate the remainder of the season without leading rusher Jordan Mason and Christian McCaffrey, who both went down in the Buffalo game. Losing CMC is a big blow since it looked like he was rounding into form after missing the first eight games.
How the Niners handle the rest of the season will depend heavily on Brock Purdy. During the team’s three-game losing streak he failed to pass form more than 200 yards in any of them and Purdy had just 94 passing yards against the Bills. There were some extenuating circumstances like playing in a blizzard, but he has to be better.
In the Week 3 game Purdy was 22 of 30 for 292 yards with three TDs and no interceptions. However, Jake Moody missed a field goal and they had a dropped pass that would’ve put the Niners in field goal range when the game was tied. That’s been the theme of San Francisco’s season so far: finding ways to lose games they would’ve won in past seasons.
I’m hoping to have better results on this week Thursday Night Football same game parlay. Last week I backed the Lions -5 and they failed to cover in their 34-31 win. The teams also went over the total of 51.5 when I incorrectly backed the UNDER.
