The San Francisco 49ers burned many an NFL bettor last season. Actually, let me rephrase that. The injury bug squashed the hopes and dreams of the many that touted the Niners surpassing their season win total odds a season removed from falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV. Even so, the team still went on to win six games with the likes of Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard under center for a majority of snaps once Jimmy Garoppolo went down with yet another season-ending injury. Upper management had enough of their glass doll preventing the franchise from winning it all so much that it went out and traded three No. 1 draft picks to move up nine spots and secure the services of FCS QB Trey Lance with the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Even with a bevy of other injuries, San Fran was still better than average in a number of statistical categories across the board. That speaks volumes for how deep and talented the roster currently is. Hopefully with a major dose of luck on the injury front after what went down last year, the 49ers can get back to being one of the best the NFC has to offer and return to the big game. I’m bullish on Kyle Shanahan’s troops being one of the alphas of the ultra-competitive NFC West, so I have no issues eating some chalk and hammering them to exceed their win total.
San Francisco 49ers Season Win Total: 10 Over -128
The 49ers were one of a handful of teams that entered 2020-21 with a double-digit season win total. Unfortunately, the losses of Jimmy G, Raheem Mostert, Deebo Samuel, Nick Bosa, George Kittle, Dee Ford, Ezekiel Ansah, Richard Sherman and Solomon Thomas simply proved to be too much for the roster to overcome. The 6-10 campaign came nowhere close to getting the job done for over bettors. However, the skeleton crew Shanahan marched onto the field every passing week still proved to be highly competitive with each of its last four defeats coming by an average of just over a touchdown. A majority of those players are expected to be healthy and ready to go for the upcoming NFL betting season. That bodes extremely well for the team’s chances of once again competing for the division crown as well as earning another trip to the Super Bowl.

San Francisco 49ers Win Total Analysis
Though the 2021-22 season kicks off with a pair of road games, each is highly winnable with both the Lions and Eagles rebuilding whether they want to accept it or not. Then it gets tricky with four straight against the Packers, Seahawks, Cardinals and Colts with the bye week mixed in. Three of those teams qualified for the postseason a year ago, and Arizona possibly could’ve as well had it not flamed out down the stretch. If it manages to escape that gauntlet with a winning record, the 49ers will find themselves in an enviable position to thrive the rest of the way. The benefit of finishing in last place earned them the right of taking on one of the easier schedule strengths the following season. Sharp Football Stats currently has San Fran’s schedule strength ranked out as the easiest of all 32 teams. Its standalone games come against three losing teams of a year ago in the Eagles, Bengals and Falcons. It also gets the NFC North and AFC South which possess some horrific teams. In all seriousness, the only thing standing in the way of this club punching a ticket to the second season is its own division. All four teams look great on paper but there will only be three slots available; the division winner and two wild cards. Someone will be left home to cry in their Wheaties.
Teams are rarely ravaged by injuries two straight seasons. I can’t help but think the Niners medical staff will be extra cautious with its PTPers after what went down in 2020. With that, I’m comfortable taking a stand here and omitting injuries from the equation this upcoming season. When fully healthy, the 49ers are simply on a different level than their opponents. It already displayed that trait back in 2019-20 when it won 13 games to secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I love the talent on this roster! I marveled at it last season when both sides of the ball were without most of their pertinent parts. Regardless of whether it’s Garoppolo or Lance leading the offense, San Francisco will get the job done with a punishing ground attack that’s backed by what I believe to be a top-5 ranked defense. That’s a winning combination right there, and it’s one I believe leads me to a ticket cash on the over once the regular season comes to a close.
