The Seattle Seahawks have been an interesting case study this offseason. Regardless of working behind the best pass-blocking offensive line throughout his tenure in the Emerald City and watching D.K. Metcalf evolve into a game changer his second season, Russell Wilson wasn’t happy. So much so that reports surfaced about him wanting out! He was attached to a bevy of rumors leading up to the NFL Draft with him headed to Chicago or Miami. Blah blah blah; it was all hot noise! The 2021-22 NFL betting season will kick-off with him stationed exactly where he belongs after the Seahawks logged a 12-4 record to go over its season win total odds at online sportsbooks and win the NFC West for the first time since 2016. The division looks to be tough as nails once again, but Pete Carroll still possesses a roster makeup that should at the very least have it in contention to repeat as division champs. I got a feeling the coaching staff “Lets Russ Cook” with regularity. Ten wins likely won’t be enough to pull off the feat against the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals. Though very little was done via the draft or free agency to shore up the roster, I’m still bullish on Seattle. This is a franchise that’s logged a double-digit win tally in eight of the last nine years. Provided the injury bug doesn’t vacate San Francisco and invade Seattle, I expect that trend to continue and for the Seahawks to grant over bettors with a ticket cash for the fourth straight season.
Seattle Seahawks Season Win Total: 10 Under -134
Linemakers tagged the Seahawks with 7.5, 9 and 9.5-game win totals over the course of the team’s recent over streak. They beat those imposts by 2.5, 2 and most recently 2.5 games. With that, it comes as a bit of a surprise to see linemakers not fully buying in with this year’s number to beat residing at 10. Even more surprising is the fact that the betting markets are fading that number with heavier juice currently attached to the low side of the impost. Maybe it has something to do with all four NFC West teams possessing rosters that can qualify for the playoffs at the very least. With an extra game added to the schedule and Lumen Field now fully opened up to the 12th Man, the Seahawks look good for 10 wins at minimum in my estimation.

Seattle Seahawks Win Total Analysis
Further backing my stance on the Seahawks being a playoff candidate once again is that they run up against what’s being touted as the eighth easiest schedule strength per Sharp Football Stats when averaging out their opponent’s forecasted win totals. While the NFC West will irrefutably be a bear to face, they also get the benefit of opposing the NFC North and AFC South which possess a pair of teams with the lowest win totals on the betting board. The standalone games against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Football Team could be problematic with the two games against the Steelers and WFT on the road. Regardless, this is a team that will get the prime-time treatment five times over the course of the regular season, so they should be up for each challenge every passing week!
NFL bettors will know right from the outset if this team has what it takes to mimic last season’s effort and take it a step further. They’ll run up against the best of the AFC South in the Colts and Titans to get the party started, and will have opposed the division rival 49ers and Rams once the Week 9 bye comes around. The Seahawks have recently held the upper hand against San Francisco, but have had no luck against the Rams since Sean McVay took over the reins in 2017. They’re just 3-6 SU and 4-5 ATS in the nine all-time meetings which includes last year’s 30-20 defeat as 3-point favorites in the Wild Card round. While the Seahawks can still surpass their win total odds without getting the best of the retooled Rams, the time has come for Seattle to prevent its division rival from making a mockery of their matchups. Should they at the very least earn a split, they’ll cash another over ticket and better their positioning for a deeper playoff run should they qualify. Let’s just hope the injury bug gets the heck out of the west coast!
