The four teams favored at the top of the odds board to win Super Bowl LIII will be in action this weekend for the Divisional Round games. The New Orleans Saints locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a few games remaining in the regular season and haven’t played a meaningful game since then. They hold down the top spot on the updated odds list but must contend with Nick Foles and the Eagles, who pulled off the biggest upset of Wild Card Weekend by taking down the Bears in Chicago as a 6.5-point underdog.
Foles and the Eagles have won four straight playoff games dating back to their Super Bowl run last season, and despite their late season success and upset victory over the Bears, they remain the longshot on the list at +2000. The Chiefs own the AFC’s top seed and are the second favorite at +400, but they have a daunting task ahead of them. The Indianapolis Colts are the hottest team in the NFL right now after a thorough destruction of the Texans over Wild Card Weekend. The Colts have won 10 of their last 11 games and they’ve never lost to the Chiefs in the playoffs.
The Chargers are in the unenviable position of having to play on the road for a second straight week even though they have a better record than their opponent. That didn’t matter on Sunday when the Bolts avenged a regular season loss to the Ravens by pulling off the upset. They have the best odds of any team that played on Wild Card Weekend at +850, but they are in New England for a date with Tom Brady this week.
Here’s a look at the current Super Bowl LIII odds at BookMaker.eu heading into the Divisional Round of the postseason.
Odds To Win Super Bowl 53 at BookMaker.eu
New Orleans Saints +220
Kansas City Chiefs +400
New England Patriots +420
Los Angeles Rams +450
Los Angeles Chargers +850
Indianapolis Colts +1500
Dallas Cowboys +1500
Philadelphia Eagles +2000
Seven of the eight teams still alive in the playoffs have won a Super Bowl title, including the past two winners, and all eight teams have played in at least one Super Bowl game. The Pats have the most experience in the league’s final game of the season with 10 total trips, the last eight with Brady leading the way. That didn’t bother the Eagles last season, as they upended the Pats 41-33 for their first Super Bowl title behind game MVP Nick Foles.
The Kansas City Chiefs have some playoff demons they need to overcome and it isn’t going to be easy with the red-hot Colts invading Arrowhead Stadium. KC is the second favorite at +400, but they went just 3-3 over their final six regular season games. The Colts are clearly the hotter team right now. The Chiefs are just 1-10 in the postseason since playing for the AFC title during the 1993 season with four of those losses coming to the Colts. Luck threw for 443 yards and four touchdowns leading the Colts back from a 38-10 deficit to win the Wild Card game 45-44 when the teams last met following the 2013 season.
In a touch of irony it was Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt who came up with the name Super Bowl for the game featuring the AFL champion against the NFL’s best. The Chiefs played in two of the first four Super Bowl games but they haven’t been back since the league’s merged in 1970.
The Chargers are the only team remaining that has never won a Super Bowl and they have the best odds of any team that played during the first round. The Bolts matched the Chiefs with the best record in the AFC, only to lose the division tie-breaker. That moved them to the No. 5 seed, forcing them to play on the road Wild Card Weekend and travel for the Divisional Round matchup with New England.
At +420 the Patriots are the third favorite and they can never be counted out as long as Brady is still slinging the football. They’ve played in four of the past seven Super Bowls splitting those games, and they have the opportunity to play in their eighth consecutive AFC Championship with a win over the Chargers this weekend.
