Week 17 of the NFL betting season is upon us with teams continuing to jockey for playoff positioning. All but one slot has been locked up in the AFC while three remain open in the NFC. We’re invested in the following teams to win Super Bowl LVII: Buffalo Bills +650, Baltimore Ravens +2200, New York Giants +18500, Philadelphia Eagles +686, Minnesota Vikings +2258, Pittsburgh Steelers +25000, San Francisco 49ers +1200, Seattle Seahawks +5300, Washington Commanders +17500, Cincinnati Bengals +1050, Los Angeles Chargers +3750, and Jacksonville Jaguars +15500.
Of those teams, only the Steelers find themselves on the outside looking into the playoff picture with two games remaining on the docket. If you can believe it, there is a path for Mike Tomlin’s squad to qualify. Teams that haven’t locked up a playoff bid include the GMEN, Commandos, Jaguars, and Seahawks. Oh the fun we’ll have hedging if all 12 of these teams find a place at the table come the second season!
Are we missing out on a team or two that can come out of nowhere to hoist the Lombardi? I don’t see it, but I wanted to dig into what the betting market is telling us for you to come to your own conclusions and act on them if need be.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3600
Win this week and the Bucs punch their ticket to the playoffs by winning the wretched NFC South for the second straight year. Mind you, Tampa Bay is offering up nearly 4.5x more line value on the futures odds to win it all than they did before the season kicked off.
Linemakers don’t believe in this team. I don’t believe in this team. You shouldn’t believe in this team. It’s shown nothing to this point to lead me to believe a switch will get flipped when it matters most. Even with Tom Brady manning the controls - Hard Pass!
Miami Dolphins +4250
I was speechless for hours over how the Dolphins went scoreless in the second half of last week’s 26-20 home loss to the Packers. Then news surfaced of Tua Tagovailoa entering the concussion protocol once again. Then I saw video of him taking a hard spill at the tail end of the second quarter that many pointed to as the exact time the concussion was incurred.
If that’s the case, Miami’s coaching and medical staffs have much to explain. If in fact he was concussed at that point in time, it means he played an entire half of football concussed and threw a trio of head scratching interceptions because of it. A path is still there to qualify, but Miami is currently offering up a bigger rate of return now than it did heading into Week 1. That’s problematic in my book!
Green Bay Packers +6700
So help me god if the Green Bay Packers are the team that comes from out of nowhere to make a deep run in the postseason! Sunday’s win at Hard Rock Stadium was huge and now Aaron Rodgers and co. get their final two games at home against the division rival Vikings and Lions. They’ll also be seeking same season revenge in both contests with a potential bid to the playoffs on the line.
For it to all come to fruition, the Cheeseheads will need to be at full strength which means healthy forms of Christian Watson and Aaron Jones in the huddle. I don’t see it happening, but now’s the time to strike with the online sportsbook offering up nearly 4.5x worth of value off the season opener.
Carolina Panthers +20000
What a story it would be if Steve Wilks was able to lead this team into the playoffs and make a run. It feels extremely far-fetched however with Sam Darnold at the controls of the offense. Jaycee Horn succumbing to a likely season-ending wrist injury also puts a damper on things. This team is a bit too schizophrenic for my tastes, but those are the types of teams that either get blown off the field in the wild-card round or make it to the conference’s title game.

New England Patriots +26500
The Patriots likely wouldn’t be in the conundrum they’re faced with right now if not for the end-games over the last two weeks against the Raiders and Bengals. I still can’t believe Rhamondre Stevenson fumbled going in for the go-ahead score. If these self-inflicted wounds are more a trend than an anomaly, we might not have seen anything yet with two remaining against Miami and @Buffalo.
Either way, I have no confidence in Mac Jones and co. hoisting the Lombardi Trophy with Matt Patricia calling the offensive shots.
New York Jets +45000
Now this is a team worthy of a beer money investment right now! In Mike White I trust - so too do the Jets’ playmakers. Bam Knight, Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore have all thrived with No. 5 under center. That could very well be the case over these final two weeks even on the road at Seattle and Miami. Win those games and we could have a live 450-1 ticket in our possession.
Let us not forget how dominant Sauce Gardner and his mates have been on the defensive side of the ball. If it can get any type of consistent support from the offense, there’s no limit as to where the J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets can soar in the second season! Provided Robert Saleh’s troops qualify…
