After posting 9-7 regular season records in the first two seasons of the Mike Vrabel regime, the Tennessee Titans went on to win 11 games to take home AFC South honors for the first time since 2008. In doing so, it smashed its 9-game season win total odds to run a streak of overs for win total bettors to three straight. As great a campaign it was for Derrick Henry and company last season, it ultimately ended up getting cut short in the wild card round a year removed from sending the same Baltimore Ravens team home prematurely. As potent the offense proved to be in the first full season with Ryan Tannehill under center, the defense was a major Achilles heel that the team simply wasn’t able to mask when it mattered most. Because of it, the front office went hard on the defensive side of the ball improving it both via the NFL Draft and free agency. It also just went out and added Julio Jones to the offensive mix. With that, Tennessee looks to have a team in place to make a run at a playoff bid for the third straight season. Linemakers upped their win total a half game and also have them listed as near co-favorites along with the Indianapolis Colts to win the division. So long as the injury bug doesn’t muck everything up, the Titz should be a major player in the AFC with a shot at winning it all for the first time in franchise history.
Tennessee Titans Season Win Total: 9.5 Over -108
The Titans have been solid investments over the last few seasons in terms of showing up for their win total supporters. Tennessee went 3-0-1 to the over during that stretch, and it has the roster, divisional placement and schedule strength to improve upon that output in 2021-22. As much success the franchise has experienced since Vrabel started donning a headset in Nashville, it hasn’t been very rewarding for NFL bettors on a gamely basis. Improvement in that area would be a nice change this upcoming season with the Titz amassing 8-8, 8-7-1 and 7-9 tallies against the closing NFL spreads over their last 48 regular season games. If that area improves, those expecting 10+ wins this season will be sitting pretty.

Tennessee Titans Season Win Total Analysis
I hitched my wagon to the wrong team in the AFC South last season. I thought Philip Rivers would’ve been enough to get the Colts over the top, but that head scratching loss to Jacksonville the opening week of the season allowed for the Titans to win the division via tiebreakers after winning the second regular season meeting. Both teams finished with 11 wins and look destined to be battling one another for bragging rights once again in 2021-22.
Tennessee’s schedule strength currently checks in at No. 14 per the stat crunchers over at Sharp Football Stats. The Titans will be forced to deal with the extremely tough NFC West and AFC East, and gets standalone games against the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers. While it’s likely going to log a pair of wins against a Houston Texans team it rolls up and smokes biannually seemingly every season, I’m not sold on it doing the same against Jacksonville whom it’s swept three of the last four seasons. Then there are the Colts who they always seem to split against. Should it play out like that, Tennessee is looking at a 4-2 record in divisional play. That means six wins will be needed against the remainder of opponents to cash over tickets a fourth straight time.
From Week 10 on, Tennessee will get the pleasure of running up against the Texans twice, Saints, Patriots, Jaguars, Steelers, 49ers and Dolphins with five of those games taking place in the comforts of Nissan Stadium. Cashing the over could all come down to the final two games. If that turns out to be the case, I’d love my odds of doing so. You know darn well Tannehill will be way up to take on his former team at home in Week 17, and then Derrick Henry will likely have another 200+ rushing yard performance against the Texans – like he did twice last year - in the regular season finale to seal the deal. The Titans offense should be a beast. It’ll all come down to the new faces on the defense gelling together quickly and turning into a better than average stop unit to make it all come to fruition. I learned my lesson last season and won’t be fading Vrabel for the foreseeable future!
