The return of Russell Wilson hasn’t been able to stop the slide the Seattle Seahawks are currently in. Seattle has dropped two straight since Wilson got back in the lineup, and five of its last six games falling further off the pace in the NFC West and in the conference. The team is headed toward its worst record since Pete Carroll took over as head coach ahead of the 2010 season. The Seahawks look to stop the bleeding in Week 12 when they visit the Washington Football Team on Monday Night Football. The team formerly known as the Redskins has been wagered up to a slight favorite after hitting the board as a 3-point underdog.
This regular season Week 12 matchup will take place on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 8:15 p.m. ET at FedEx Field in Landover, MD and will be televised on ESPN.

Odds Analysis
We have a fence jumper in this Monday night matchup. Washington opened as a field goal underdog, but Seattle’s lackluster play over the past few months has backers jumping ship. As a result we saw the line move in favor of the former Skins putting them as a slight 1-point favorite. Seattle lost its last two games SU and ATS with Wilson behind center getting outscored 40-13. The Seahawks were 1-2 SU and 3-0 ATS with Geno Smith at the helm during Wilson’s injury absence. They are currently last in the division with a 3-7 SU and 5-5 ATS record. Washington put its first winning streak together by beating Carolina 27-21 last week as a 3-point road dog. They upset Tampa Bay, 29-19, in Week 10 stopping a four-game slide. Washington hasn’t been favored since beating Atlanta 34-30 in Week 4. They are 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS when laying points. The total was wagered to 46.5 after opening at 48 with Seattle’s offensive struggles a reason.
Player to Watch
Without a doubt Wilson is a key element in this matchup. For the first time in his career he was shelved with an injury missing three games with a mangled finger sustained in a Week 5 loss to the Rams. Seattle was 2-3 after that game and the hope was that Wilson’s return would spark the team. The Seahawks went 1-2 in the three games Wilson missed, losing by a field goal to Pittsburgh in overtime and New Orleans. They hammered Jacksonville 31-7 ahead of their bye. Things went smoothly in rehab and Wilson was able to return to action for the Week 10 contest with Green Bay. However, Seattle was shutout by the Packers and dropped last week’s matchup with division-leader Arizona 23-13.
Wilson hasn’t been the same player since getting back on the field leaving some to wonder if he was brought back too soon. With the talent on offense the Seahawks should be much better than what they’ve shown the last two games. Wilson completed just 34 of 66 in those games for 368 yards without a touchdown. He was intercepted twice and the club suffered a pair of double-digit setbacks while getting outscored 40-13. They played below the total in those two games and cashed the UNDER in each of their previous eight. There is a logjam in the middle of the NFC standings so the playoffs aren’t out of the picture yet. There is no margin for error, though, and Wilson needs to start performing like the All-Pro he is.
Key Stat
Stalled drives are a good way of keeping the point total down. So I guess it’s no coincidence that Seattle’s third-down failures have resulted in some poor offensive numbers. The Seahawks were just 2 of 10 on third downs in last week’s loss to the Cardinals and they rank 30th in the league converting just 32.4 percent of the time on third-down. They’ve been even worse when going for it on fourth down. Seattle is dead last having converted just 16.7 percent of their fourth down chances.
Free ATS Pick
We saw Washington get hot in the second half of last season leading to a division title and playoff appearance. They still finished below .500, but it was a nice way to end the campaign. And it looks like a lot of the same stuff this year thanks to the play of Taylor Heinicke. The QB has rewarded Ron Rivera for his patience by leading Washington to two of its four best scoring outputs of the season over the last two weeks. And right now Washington is the better football team.
NFL Pick: Washington Football Team -1 / OVER 46.5
