The 2020 NFL Draft is a week away, and everyone is ready to see the new crop of NFL rookies. Joe Burrow is a massive favorite to go No. 1 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals, and Chase Young will probably be selected by the Washington Redskins at No. 2. However, the Redskins’ history in the NFL Draft has led some to speculate that the franchise may do the unexpected and either not take Young or deal the pick. You can bet on Washington to do the unexpected or to make the pragmatic decision at BookMaker before Thursday, April 23.

As I discussed in a prior article, the Redskins are probably going to take Young at No. 2. Young is a transcendent defensive end that can take over a game, and his skillset is the most pro-ready of any player in this year’s draft class. He was the best defensive player in the country by a significant margin, and he is rated the top prospect on the board by most draft analysts.
We have seen the impact a pass rusher can have in the NFL. Players like Jadeveon Clowney, Nick Bosa, and Cameron Jordan are among the most valuable non-quarterbacks in the league, and it is because of their ability to disrupt what opponents want to do offensively. A defensive end can completely change a game by consistently whipping the offensive tackle across from him, and Young is a natural 4-3 end that can do it all.
Will the Washington Redskins Draft Tua Tagovailoa?

Washington selected Dwayne Haskins in the first round of last year’s draft, and it’s hard to imagine that the team would want to cut bait with him already. Haskins reportedly impressed owner Daniel Snyder enough that Snyder was considering making a move up for the Ohio State product, but he decided to hold firm and see how the draft shook out. The Redskins were seemingly elated to take Haskins with the No. 15 pick, and he showed some promise over the tail end of the season.
If the Redskins decided to hit the reset button one year in and start all over with Tua Tagovailoa, that would be a head scratcher of a decision. The only team to do something similar recently was Arizona after drafting Josh Rosen with the No. 10 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, but the Cardinals underwent a lot of change that offseason and installed a new scheme too. Although Tagovailoa might turn out to be great, his injury history alone is enough to keep Washington from taking this gamble.
Will the Washington Redskins Trade the No. 2 Pick?

In nine years as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers, Ron Rivera never traded his first-round pick. Rivera has stated that all options are on the table, but his philosophy is that there are only a handful of guaranteed impact players in each draft, and Young is certainly one of those players.
Washington would probably demand a king’s ransom in order to cede the No. 2 overall pick. Young is the biggest sure thing in this year’s draft, and every other prospect is a tier below the athletic defensive end.
We’ve seen teams give up an incredible haul to move up for a quarterback, but it’s rare to see that happen for a non-quarterback. Rivera would likely want at least two first-round picks for the right to draft second, and he won’t want to fall too far unless he has his sights set on a wide receiver. Wide receiver and defensive end are the two deepest positions in this draft, yet it would be hard for him to pass on Young and sell a lesser defensive end. Once again, that makes the chalk the right play.
