Even though Manchester City has a game in hand on much of the top competitors in the EPL, Tottenham is the team that enters this weekend the closest to Chelsea. The Spurs are 10 adrift though, and they know they're basically competing for second best at this point. Everton though, realizes that it still has an opportunity, albeit a small one, to finish in the Top 4, and that might come down to how well it plays at the Lane on Sunday morning.... 

Liverpool and Arsenal are both probably fairly definitively out of the Premier League race at this point. With Tottenham and Manchester City starting to at least pull away just a bit from the rest of the pack for second and third, there's potentially just one spot left in the Champions League for the 2017-18 season. Both the Reds and Gunners know that snaring points against the other is crucial on Saturday.... 

England's first piece of major silverware will be handed out at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Things have been looking up just a bit for Swansea City of late. The team has cleared the relegation zone for the time being, and it's managed to score some incredibly improbable victories along the way. That said, the Swans aren't finished this year yet, as the 24 points they're on won't be anywhere near enough to stay up. The likelihood of getting anything at Chelsea on Saturday, though? Sometimes in the FA Cup, you just get a lucky draw to keep you going in the tournament. Ah, the magic that is the FA Cup. Tottenham has a tremendous opportunity to make a grand statement on Saturday in the last match of seven on the day. The Spurs aren't really expected to go on the road and beat Liverpool, but if they were able to, they would truly be ready to declare themselves as the only team left in England capable of running down a Chelsea side that feels like it's run away from the rest of the pack once and for all.... 

Is there really a team out there in England who can stop Chelsea? The Blues are now nine clear of Tottenham and continuing to pull away from the rest of the pack. Burnley has had one of its best seasons in team history, but this is going to be a real uphill battle at home against the top team in England.... 

Ever since Pep Guardiola said that the chase for the Premier League title is over for Manchester City, his side has played virtually perfect soccer, picking up three straight victories, including continuing to advance in the FA Cup. Is the quest for silverware still on? It's about to get real for the Citizens, and this match against AFC Bournemouth could be a hidden banana peel.... 

Arsenal has probably conceded to the fact that the best it's doing this year is finishing in second to Chelsea in the Premier League. That said, there's a big difference between finishing in the Top 3, fourth, fifth and sixth, and all of those options are still very much so up in the air. That said, even though Hull City should be a pushover at home on Saturday to kick off Match Day 25 action, the Tigers know they have to get a few results in matches like this if they want to stay up this year.... 

Tottenham might pose the only serious threat left to the Premier League title that is already for all intents and purposes residing at Stamford Bridge. The Spurs are still a lofty nine points back and have a lot of work to do, and they surely can't afford to lose any points at home against Middlesbrough, a team that could be stricken by immediate relegation after getting promoted last year.... 

Before you get ready for your full day of Super Bowl coverage on Sunday, don't miss out on a moment of the action on the pitch at the Etihad, where Manchester City is going to look to avoid stepping on a potential banana peel at home against relegation-stricken Swansea City, a team that has already snared three points on the road against a comparable Liverpool side this year.... 

Chelsea hasn't been in quite the same form in recent weeks that it was in when it went on one of the best runs we've seen in Premier League history, but the team is doing everything it can to remove all doubt of another championship in 2017. The Blues are nine clear heading into their home fixture with Arsenal, and a win would leave them 12 clear of the Gunners with just 14 matches to play.... 

At least West Ham has managed to get out of the gutter of the Premier League and appears to not be in the midst of a relegation fight any longer. But with Dimitri Payet now on his way to Marseille, the club has lost one of its big time stars that it will have to get along without now the rest of the way. The Hammers' first test without Payet comes against Manchester City, a team that already has seven away wins in 11 matches this season.... 

You just get the feeling that the teams at the top of the Premier League that are trailing Chelsea know that they have to get three points from the Blues if they want to have any chance at being serious contenders down the stretch of the season. The bottom line though, is that Chelsea isn't relenting, and that's why this trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool comes with a sense of possible forgiveness, knowing that the team heads into the last match in January eight points clear.... 

Antonio Conte can thank his lucky stars for this one. Part of the luck of the FA Cup is ending up with a good draw, and Chelsea has been given a gift here in the fourth round proper of the tournament. The fourth round proper of the FA Cup is generally the time when some of the big time teams start to struggle and/or run into each other. Liverpool has had a frustrating run of it over the course of the last several weeks. The team just hasn't had much in the way of success in the new year to date, and its first order of business this week is going to be figuring out how to overturn a 1-0 loss against Southampton in the first leg of the EFL Cup semifinal if it wants a serious chance at getting some silverware this year.... 

If you just look at the table of the Premier League without looking at total points, there isn't a heck of a lot separating Stoke City and Manchester United. But of course, we know that these two teams are nothing like each other. After last week's bad loss to Everton, Pep Guardiola essentially conceded the fact that his Manchester City team isn't getting back in the EPL championship race. Interestingly enough, this statement came on the same day that Tottenham stated its claim to get back into the EPL title chase by moving within seven points of Chelsea. You're not going to find a bigger mismatch than this in the Premier League. Hull City is sitting on just 15 points through 21 matches this season, and it's largely regarded as the worst team in the top flight. It's entirely possible that Burnley could finish with its best season ever this season. The team has been up and down over the course of the last few seasons between the EPL and Championship, but now, the Clarets sit firmly in 10th place on the Premier League table and look good for at least one more season in the top flight. The task ahead on Sunday though, is a difficult one. West Bromwich Albion continue to stay in the top half of the table in the Premier League in spite of the fact that many believed they were potentially destined for relegation this year.
