The past few seasons have not been the best for a club with the history of Inter Milan. Inter Milan have been unable to break through in Serie A due to Juventus’ dominance, and they have largely floundered in the Champions League since their Finals win over Bayern Munich in 2010. Through the first month of the season, it looked like it would be more of the same for Inter, but the team has come on strong in recent weeks and they are in a great position in both Serie A and the Champions League. The goal now is to keep from stumbling during a tough road trip to take on Atalanta.

Odds Analysis
Atalanta needed some time to get going this season too. They had been fighting to become one of the 48 teams in the Europa League Group Stage, and they spent the first month of the season working their way through qualifying rounds. That affected their results in Serie A, and they found themselves down at the lower end of the table. However, they have responded with a flourish in recent weeks, picking up draws against AC Milan and Torino and winning three straight against Chievo, Parma, and Bologna to move into the middle of the standings.
For Inter Milan, things have gotten much better after a 1-1-2 start. Inter have now won seven straight matches in league play, and that has them second in Serie A, just ahead of Napoli based off of goal differential. Their defense has been superb over this run, and they have given up just two goals in those seven wins.
Injury Report
The hosts will be without the services of two players for this match. Right back Andrea Masiello (yes, that Andrea Masiello) has been ruled out because of a lingering thigh injury that has kept him sidelined for the last month. Center back Marco Varnier is a long-term scratch as he continues to recover from an ACL tear he suffered in July.
No player has been definitively ruled out for Inter Milan, although one or two players may see rest due to the recent Champions League midweek matches. Right back Sime Vrsaljko has been sidelined for two months with a knee injury, and he is listed as questionable to play.
Player to Watch
It’s been a great year for the young Mauro Icardi to this point. Icardi has been the talisman for Inter during their run, and he has come up big when the club has needed someone the most. A few weeks ago, he broke a scoreless deadlock against rival AC Milan in stoppage time, and he followed that up with a brace against Lazio. He leads the team with six goals, and he has been one of the highest-rated players on Inter Milan game in and game out.
Serie A Prop Bet – Draw/Draw at +468
The draw is very much in play here. Although Inter have played incredibly well and Atalanta’s three straight wins have come against lesser foes, Inter is still only getting scoring from one person. If Atalanta can limit Icardi, they should be able to get a result, and they have the defense to do that.

Fatigue could be an issue too on the side of Inter Milan. They have had to play midweek games in each of the last three weeks, and that can take a toll on teams. Atalanta have had the chance to recover, and that bodes well.
Italian Serie A Odds: Atalanta 1, Inter Milan 1
