Two historic rivals will meet at the Women’s World Cup on Sunday, and one will be out for revenge. This is the second straight international competition where England and Scotland were drawn into the same group, and the Scottish women will be out to prove themselves after what happened in the Netherlands. The Three Lionesses hammered Scotland by a final of 6-0 in Utrecht at the European Championships two years ago, but the Scots are confident such a result won’t be repeated.

Odds Analysis
England are one of the favorites to win it all this year. Although the Three Lionesses have yet to win a major international competition, they finished in third place at the 2015 World Cup, and they made it to the semifinals of the European Championship two years ago.
Ahead of this year’s World Cup, they have had some mixed results. England have knocked off Brazil twice in the last eight months, beating the Brazilians 1-0 in England in October and 2-1 in Pennsylvania in February. They hammered Japan 3-0 and drew the Americans 2-2 to win the SheBelieves Cup, but they have not fared well against former Commonwealth countries. The Three Lionesses were defeated 1-0 by both Canada and New Zealand on home soil.
As for Scotland, they will be making their first appearance at the Women’s World Cup. They qualified for their first European Championship two years ago, and the Scottish used that experience as a building block. Scotland dropped just one match during qualifying, and they are an intriguing option ahead of the World Cup.
The Scottish only lost 1-0 to powerhouses Canada and the United States, and they registered a big win over Brazil two months ago. Scotland beat the Brazilians 1-0, giving them confidence ahead of this competition.
Scotland Player to Watch
Erin Cuthbert is a special player. At the age of 20, she is younger than any of her teammates by three years, but she has already made her mark for the national team. Cuthbert has netted 10 goals in 30 appearance for Scotland, and she was one of the nominees for the PFA Women’s Player of the Year award for her accomplishments with Chelsea this season. She could create some brilliance in this match.
England Player to Watch
Karen Carney is an English soccer legend. Carney is the most capped player on the team, and she is one of the best players in the Three Lionesses’ history. She has more goals than any player currently on the roster, and she has won titles with both Arsenal and Chelsea. The midfielder is best known for her role as a creator, and she should help this talented team flourish.

This is going to be a high-scoring match. England have a lot of goal scoring talent. Nikita Parris could have a breakout campaign, and Fran Kirby and Ellen White are talented goal scorers too. Carney and Jill Scott will be able to give them open looks throughout the match.
Scotland should be able to net at least a goal too. This team was without some of its best players two years ago, but they are healthy coming into France. Kim Little has been a standout during her time at Arsenal, and both Lisa Evans and Jane Ross should help Scotland create opportunities.
2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Odds: England 3, Scotland 1
