2024 MLB All Star Game Betting

MLB All-Star Game

The glorified exhibition known as Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game will take place for the 94th time on July 16 in Arlington, Texas. The American League had its nine-game winning streak in the Midsummer Classic end last year when Colorado’s Elias Diaz hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning giving the National League a 3-2 victory. Prior to that, the AL had won 27 of the previous 35 meetings, including a 13-game unbeaten streak from 1997 to 2009, helping the junior circuit overcome a 14-game deficit in the overall standings between the Leagues.

The 2024 MLB All-Star Game will be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on Tuesday, July 16 at 8 p.m. ET. All the pregame, postgame and in-game action will be broadcast nationally on FOX. A host of betting options will be available at BookMaker.eu.

Each team is made up of 32 players. The starting lineups were voted on by fans online and the players and managers helped fill out the rest of the team with their choices. Last year’s World Series managers are the managers for the two teams. That means Arizona’s Tory Lovullo will manage the National League team and Texas’ Bruce Bochy will manage the AL squad.

It’s not an easy game for the managers. Rosters need to be manipulated to get as many if not all players in the game. And you don’t want to over extend players, especially pitchers, and draw the ire of their real teams. Injuries also pop up in the days before the All-Star Game, and a few players will be sidelined from the festivities. That opens the door for others to sneak onto the All-Star game rosters.

Every team is represented in the All Star game, as MLB rules require that at least one player from each club is selected. However, there is not a requirement for each team to have a player at the game.

MLB All-Star Game Format

The All-Star Game is not a lone event. Instead, it’s joined by the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday and the Home Run Derby on Monday. The host city becomes a baseball party for several days as the country celebrates its national pastime.

This game is always scheduled for Tuesday night. As for the game itself, it is set up much like a normal game. There are nine innings but no longer are extra innings possible in order to keep arms relatively fresh for the second half of the season.

Beginning in 2022, any game that is tied after nine innings will go into a best-of-five-round home run derby. Five players will be chosen by each manager and each player gets one swing. Whoever hits the most homers in the five rounds will win and be credited in the final tally with one run and one hit each. If the teams remain tied, sudden death rounds will continue.

MLB All-Star Game Notes

In 1996, the National League beat the American League 6-0 to improve to 40-26-1 in the Midsummer Classic. Since that time, however, the AL has owned the National League, winning nine of the previous 10 games and going 27-7-1 since 1988, essentially erasing the 23-2-1 run of the NL through the 60s and 70s. The senior circuit’s dominance is gone as the AL is 47-44-2 in the All-Star Game.
