Big East Conference NCAA Tournament Betting
The Big East is one of the top conferences in college basketball yet again this season. They should have five to six teams make the NCAA Tournament depending on what happens over the next 10 days, but the top team in the conference isn’t as strong as you might think given their record. Providence is ranked No. 9 in the country with a 24-4 record and a 14-3 mark in conference play, yet the Friars are also the luckiest team in the nation per Ken Pomeroy with a 14-2 record in games decided by single digits.
Providence is only ranked 33rd in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings despite this team’s sterling record. The Friars only rank in the top 35 in one of his eight Four Factors categories, but they have been good enough all year. Center Nate Watson is the leading scorer with 13.7 PPG, and Jared Bynum, A.J. Reeves, and Noah Horschler are all good perimeter shooters.
Villanova is probably the best team in the conference although the Wildcats will be a No. 2 seed in the Big East Conference Tournament. Collin Gillespie is arguably the best player in the Big East after steadily improving over his five years with the Wildcats, and he is making 42.7% of his threes on over 210 attempts. Justin Moore is the other scorer to watch, but rebounding has been a problem for Villanova much of the season.
This is likely going to be the last year on the sidelines for Patrick Ewing. The Georgetown great helped take the Hoyas on a dream run at the Big East title last year, but the team is 0-18 in conference play this season and will be the No. 11 seed next week.
Big East Tournament Format
There is never any doubt as to where the Big East Conference Tournament will be played as it has been held at Madison Square Garden since 1983. This tournament takes place from March 9-12 with the top five teams in the conference earning byes into the quarterfinals, while the bottom six teams have to play in the first round on Wednesday, March 9. The first round, quarterfinals, and semifinals will be broadcast on FS1, while the Big East Championship Game will be shown on Saturday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

Georgetown and Connecticut were tied as the most successful teams in the history of the Big East Conference Tournament until last season. The Hoyas were a No. 8 seed and expected to be bounced early from the proceedings, but they won four games in four days to claim their first Big East Tournament title in 14 years and a bid in the NCAA Tournament.
While Georgetown and Connecticut have had the most historic success, Villanova has been the powerhouse in the Big East for the last several years. The Wildcats have won the Big East Conference Tournament four times since 2015, and they went on to win the national championship in 2016 and 2018.
Whereas other conference tournaments move around constantly, the Big East Conference Tournament has taken place in historic Madison Square Garden for the last 40 years. The Garden has seen some incredible games and teams over the years, as basketball reigns supreme in the Big Apple over those four days.
