Big Sky Conference NCAA Tournament Betting
Montana State is looking to win the Big Sky Conference Tournament and participate in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1996. The Bobcats won the national championship all the way back in 1929, but they have only made the NCAA Tournament three times since that incredible achievement. They won the regular season conference championship for the first time in two decades this season, and they will be the No. 1 seed next week.
The Bobcats get to the free throw line a ton, and that has led to a lot of their success in conference play. Montana State nearly knocked off Colorado and New Mexico in non-conference play, and three of their seven losses this season came in overtime.
Weber State is one of the traditional powers in the Big Sky, and the Wildcats can’t be dismissed. They started the season 8-0 before playing five Quad 1 or 2 opponents in December, and they went 1-4 in those games. They went on a run in the middle of the season with eight straight wins, but the Wildcats have now lost five of their last seven games and are reeling due to their inability to defend the three-point line coupled with their woeful job on the offensive glass.
Big Sky Tournament Format
The Big Sky Conference Tournament is a little strange as there are 11 teams in the conference, and all 11 schools will have a chance to claim the conference’s automatic bid into March Madness. The bottom six teams in the standings will have to play in the first round, while the top five teams get a bye into the quarterfinals.
The 2022 Big Sky Conference Tournament will be held at Idaho Central Arena in Boise, Idaho. The first round will get underway on Wednesday, March 9, and there will be action every day until the Big Sky Championship Game is played on Saturday, March 12, at 6 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

The Big Sky Conference Tournament has actually been fairly level over the years. Part of what makes the conference great is the fact that, in a day and age when there are teams moving all over the place in conference realignment, there are only three teams that have won the tournament championship that are no longer involved in the Big Sky.
Montana overtook Weber State for the all-time lead in tournament titles with 11 thanks to their win in 2019. Montana (20) and Weber State (18) are the only teams to appear in more than nine championship games.
Sacramento State is the only current league member to never make it to the NCAA Tournament. The Hornets joined the Big Sky in 1996, and they have yet to even make it to the Big Sky Championship Game.
Southern Utah reached the NCAA Tournament for the only time in 2001, winning the Mid-Continent Conference tournament championship.
