Florida Gators NCAA Basketball Betting
Following a lackluster rookie season, Florida Gators head coach Todd Golden engineered a remarkable turnaround in Gainesville. Golden produced the first NCAA Tournament bid since Mike White took the Gators to the Big Dance in 2021. Unfortunately for gamblers, that did not translate into profits against the oddsmakers. Florida was an unreliable betting value this season in large part because they had one of the worst defenses in the nation. Offsetting that was an offense that ranked in the top ten for scoring but was not supported by one of college basketball’s worst defenses. But Florida earned attention and respect by winning the SEC Tournament.

Florida Gators Team Overview
Overall, the Florida Gators are 21-10 straight up, 14-16-1 against the spread, and 19-11-1 over/under the total. Florida has national metrics of 7th for scoring offense, 118th for field goal percentage, 189th for 3-point field goal percentage, 226th for free throw percentage, and 1st for offensive rebounding. While defensively, Florida is 323rd x for scoring defense, 323rd for field goal percentage permitted, 90th for 3-point field goal percentage allowed, and 218th for defensive rebounding.
Florida made the SEC Tournament championship game but lost to Auburn to end its upstart run.
Late on, Florida has covered three of its previous four games. Florida has gone over the total in nine of its last ten outings. First among Florida scorers is G Walter Clayton Jr, with 17.3 points per game. G Zyon Pullin averages 15.6 points and 5.0 assists per game. F Tyrese Samuel brings 14.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
Auburn claimed its third SEC tournament title with an 86-67 win over Florida to cap a dominant three-day run through the bracket on Sunday in Nashville, Tenn. The Tigers were led by center Johni Broome with 19 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks while also spearheading a suffocating defensive effort that put Auburn in line for a prestigious spot in the NCAA Tournament. Broome was named SEC tournament MVP with 47 points, 24 rebounds, and six blocks in three games at Nashville. Senior guard Zyon Pullin led the Gators with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Walter Clayton Jr. added 13 points and four rebounds.
Things have not gone according to plan at Florida Basketball in recent years. Former head coach Billy Donovan unforgettably led these Gators to consecutive national championships, but that was way back in 2006 and 2007. He led Florida back to the Final Four in 2014 before leaving the college game a year later, and it’s since then that things have gone awry.
We won’t focus too much on the recent past, especially with the Gators preparing for a new slate under second-year head coach Todd Golden, who was hired to get Florida back into the national conversation. Now in his second season, Golden delivered.
Making matters even more difficult were the losses from last season, as former star Colin Castleton exited the college game, and was not the only important departure. Five other players who averaged at least 5 points a game last season are gone, meaning there were a lot of new faces or players playing new roles for Golden this upcoming season.
Change isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially for a program coming off their first finish below .500 in nearly a decade. Things just didn’t click offensively last season, with this team mightily struggling both on the boards and in long-range shooting. With plenty of different faces this season, you could certainly argue that there’s more talent in Gainesville, and the results proved that.
