Patriot League NCAA Tournament Betting
Normalcy was restored in the Patriot League this year. After a wild 2020-21 campaign that saw the conference split into three mini-divisions, the conference returned to its regular format where all ten teams play each other home and away. Colgate was clearly the best team in the regular season, finishing 16-2 against Patriot League opponents to earn the No. 1 seed entering the conference tournament. The Raiders had a dream run through the bracket last year on their way to making the NCAA Tournament, beating the No. 7 seed, No. 6 seed, and No. 9 seed to win this conference for the second time in the last three years.
Colgate had the best offense in the conference by miles, and the Raiders had the second-best defense in the Patriot League too. They went 4-9 in non-conference play with their only impressive performance being a win over Syracuse, and they started conference play with a loss before winning 16 of their next 17 games. Ryan Moffatt is a lights out perimeter shooter that is sinking 45.5% of his treys, and he is one of five Colgate players that are averaging at least 10.0 PPG.
Navy started its season with an upset win over Virginia. The Midshipmen have been one of the best teams in the Patriot League once again, and they are looking to shake off last year’s stunning loss to Loyola (MD) in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament. They play very good defense, ranking 44th nationally according to Ken Pomeroy, but this offense is rated 314th in the country.
Holy Cross and Bucknell are the traditional heavyweights in this conference, but both the Crusaders and the Bison will be playing in the first round on Tuesday. The two teams combined to go 17-43 this season, as Holy Cross had an abysmal offense and Bucknell had an atrocious defense.
Patriot League Tournament Format
All ten teams in the Patriot League qualify for the conference tournament. The bottom four teams in the conference will play in the first round on Tuesday, March 1, and the winners will take part in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 3.
Every game in the Patriot League Tournament is played on campus, so that means teams have days off in between games. The semifinals will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network on Sunday, March 6, starting at 2 p.m. ET with the Patriot League Championship Game taking place on Wednesday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. ET on the same network.

Two teams have never won the Patriot League Tournament. The Loyola Greyhounds only joined this league in 2013, but they nearly ran the table as a No. 9 seed last year. The other team that has failed to win the conference tournament is lowly Army, and the Black Knights have never made the NCAA Tournament in their history. Woe to the Boston Terriers, as this program finally won the Patriot League Tournament for the first time in 2020 only for the NCAA Tournament to be cancelled due to COVID.
Holy Cross has six league titles under its belt, and the Crusaders’ most recent title in 2016 was a real Cinderella story. The Crusaders were the No. 9 seed, but they managed to blitz the rest of this league after a 5-13 regular season in conference play. They won four straight games for the first time that season, and they made their way into the NCAA Tournament with just a 14-19 record. Holy Cross is also the holder of the best run in Patriot League Tournament history, winning the tournament three times in a row from 2001 through 2003.
Bucknell recently tied Holy Cross as the most successful team in the Patriot League Tournament. The Bison were the best team in the Patriot League throughout the 2010s, making it to the Patriot League Championship six times, and they went on to win the league four times during the decade.
