The Mist has an interesting combination of youth and experience, as well as previous on-court connections. Breanna Stewart's time spent with both Jewell Loyd and Courtney Vandersloot should give them a leg up on other teams from an on-court chemistry perspective. Stewart is, at worst, the second-best player in the league, and DiJonai Carrington is the best perimeter defender. The biggest question mark for the Mist is Loyd. She's coming off a terrible season with the Seattle Storm, but that appeared to be heavily influenced by off-court tension. Can she get back to her best in a new environment? If so, the Mist are going to be a problem. If not, it could be a challenge for them.

Stewart's roster doesn't project quite as well as her co-founder's despite having the best individual projection for any player. In part, Mist will have to shoot much better than last season, when its players combined to shoot 28.5% on 3s in the WNBA. No other Unrivaled team was below 32% as a group. Only Rickea Jackson (35%) beat that mark for Mist in 2024.
On the plus side, Mist's players have been much more accurate in the past, shooting 34% career on 3s -- better than two other teams. Whether that regression kicks in will be crucial for a team that should boast strong chemistry. Stewart played the past two seasons with Courtney Vandersloot with the New York Liberty and the rest of her WNBA career with Loyd for the Seattle Storm, winning championships in both stops.
The defensive projections for Mist are strong, and it could lock down opponents with its team perimeter stopper DiJonai Carrington with Loyd and Stewart, the latter a six-time All-Defensive pick. Given that potential, I'd bet on Mist outperforming this projection.
2025 Unrivaled Game Rules Format
Unrivaled is a professional three-on-three women's basketball league based in the United States. Games are played on a full court with two ends, and consist of three seven-minute periods followed by a "winning score" fourth period played under Elam Ending conditions. In Unrivaled's implementation, 11 points are added to the leading team's (or tied teams') score at the end of the third period. The game then continues with no game clock but with an active shot clock, and the first team to reach or exceed the "winning score" wins.
