This is the biggest fight in the young career of Ricardo Nunez. He has never fought for a world title. In going up against Gervonta Davis the Panamanian challenger is stepping way up in class. Davis has proven to be one of the most dominant boxers in any weight class and will be the understandable and prohibitive favorite in this one. Further, Davis will be defending his championship in front of his home fans at Baltimore.

World Boxing Association World Welterweight Title

Defending World Boxing Association Super World Super Featherweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis is 24 years old and ranked second in the world. He has a record of dominant devastation in which he has posted 20 knockouts in his 21 career wins. He is a previous International Boxing Federation champion that has held the WBA title since 2018.

Davis is a native of Baltimore and will be fighting in his own backyard for this one. Davis won the vacant WBA super featherweight title on April 21, 2018 when he scored a technical knockout win over Jesus Cuellar at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Originally it was believed that Davis won the title against Francisco Fonseca non August 26, 2017 but he was disqualified for missing weight.

Davis has successfully defended his title belt one time when he scored a knockout win over Hugo Ruiz on February 9, 2019 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Davis dispatched of Ruiz in the first round of the scheduled 12 round bout.

Davis stands at five feet, five- and one-half inches tall with a reach of 67 and a half inches and fights from a southpaw stance.

Ricardo Nunez is a 25-year-old native of Panama where he still resides. Nunez enters this fight ranked 31st in the world. He stands at five feet, six inches tall and fights from an orthodox stance.

Nunez last stepped into the ring on April 30, 2019 when he faced Eduardo Pacheco at the Fantastic Casino de Albrook Mall in Panama City. The bout was scheduled for eight rounds but Nunez scored a first-round knockout win. Prior to that on June 23, 2018 Nunez scored another first round knockout win over Elvis Torres.
