Jose Aldo returns to action at UFC 212 on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as he takes on Max Holloway for the featherweight title. Aldo is the reigning champion, while Holloway is the interim champion, so this will unify the belts.
UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway already has six announced bouts, including Anderson Silva vs. Kelvin Gastelum and Claudia Gadelha vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Another six or seven bouts will be announced for UFC 212 in the next few weeks. Vitor Belfort would like to end his career fighting in Brazil at UFC 212 and Amanda Nunes would like to be in action in Brazil, but so far neither has found an opponent.

Jose Aldo vs. Max Holloway
Aldo was last seen at UFC 200 in July of last year when he defeated Frankie Edgar to win the featherweight title. Aldo has lost only twice in his career, as he is 25-2 with one of those losses coming to Conor McGregor in 2015. Holloway has won 10 straight fights including a victory against Anthony Pettis in December for the interim title. He is 17-3 in his career.
Aldo said he is not taking the bout against Holloway lightly. He has given Holloway credit for his reach and kickboxing skills, but Aldo said Holloway is not a complete fighter. This fight is expected to be an excellent one and very competitive and oddsmakers should have Aldo listed as a -135 favorite.
Anderson Silva vs. Kelvin Gastelum
This fight should be intense with Gastelum going against Silva in his home country of Brazil. Silva is definitely on the way down, as he has lost four of his last six fights with one draw, but he did beat Derek Brunson at UFC 208 in February. Gastelum has won his last three fights to improve to 14-2 and he could be in line for a title shot soon. Gastelum is expected to be listed as a solid favorite in this bout.
Claudia Gadelha vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz
This is a strawweight battle between two women looking to get a title shot. Gadelha has gone 3-2 in the UFC but both of her losses were to current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Kowalkiewicz had won three straight before losing to Jedrzejczyk. The winner of this fight could get another shot at Jedrzejczyk later this year.
Johnny Eduardo vs. Matthew Lopez
Eduardo is 28-10 in his career and he has won three of his last four fights, including a win against Manvel Gamburyan in November. Lopez is coming off a win against Mitch Gannon to improve his record to 9-1.
Marco Beltran vs. Deiveson Alcantara
Beltran will be moving to flyweight as he takes on Alcantara. Beltran is 8-5 in his career and coming off a loss to Joe Soto. Alcantara is unbeaten in his career at 11-0 and making his UFC debut.
Antonio Carlos Junior vs. Eric Spicely
Two veterans of “The Ultimate Fighter” go against each other with Junior taking on Spicely. Junior has won his last two fights to improve to 7-2, while Spicely has won two straight to improve to 10-2.
