Usman is 17-1 in his career, with seven wins coming by knockout and one by submission. Burns is 19-3 in his career, with six wins coming by knockout and eight by submission. Also on the card is a matchup between former interim UFC Middleweight champion Kelvin Gastelum and Ian Heinisch.

Usman won the UFC Welterweight title in March of 2019 as he defeated Tyron Woodley by unanimous decision. He defended that title later in 2019 and knocked out Colby Covington in the fifth round. The last time we saw Usman in action was last July when he won a unanimous decision against Jorge Masvidal.
Burns is on a good run of late, winning each of his last six bouts. He is coming off a unanimous decision win against Tyron Woodley last May and he knocked out Demian Maia last March. He has three wins in 2019, as he won by unanimous decision against Gunnar Nelson in September of 2019, defeated Alexey Kunchenko by unanimous decision in August of 2019 and submitted Mike Davis in April of 2019.
There is no doubt that Usman is the top welterweight in the world, but you won’t see Usman taking any fight for granted. “It’s funny, actually – I’ve still got that chip on my shoulder,” Usman said to MMA Junkie. “It’s actually almost even bigger now, and it’s because even with all of that, for some reason, people still don’t want to give you the respect that you deserve because of maybe their personal preference. But it is what it is.”
Usman will face his former training partner in Burns in what could be an interesting matchup. Burns has power and a style that could force Usman to the mat. Usman hasn’t allowed his opponents to gain control and he doesn’t expect Burns to force him to the mat. “My mind is better than all these guys in the division right now, to where it depends on him,” Usman said to the media, “Those guys dictate how this thing is going to go….if you don’t come prepared, it’s going to be one-sided, like every last one of my fights. It’s going to be a one-sided beating, so I’ll leave that up to him.”
Another interesting fight on the card has Kelvin Gasteleum taking on Ian Heinisch. Gastelum comes into this fight with a record of 15-6 and he badly needs a win, as he has lost his last three fights. Heinisch is 14-3 and he has lost two of his last three fights.
Another fight of note has Alexa Grasso favored against Maycee Barber. Grasso comes into this fight with a record of 12-3 while Barber is 8-1..
