Dodson and Gibson were supposed to fight at XMMA 2, but Dodson had to pull out due to injury. Also on the card is a bout between former UFC middleweight title challenger Nate Marquardt and Ultimate Fighter alum Valdir Araujo. Former UFC fighter John Howard will also be on the main card, as he takes on prospect Tyler Ray.

Dodson is 21-12 in his career with 10 knockouts and two submissions, Dodson lost three of his last four UFC fights and was released by the organization, but he was 10-6 in the UFC and he was a major challenger to Demetrious Johnson. Dodson is 2-3 in his last five fights overall. He last fought just over a year ago when he lost a unanimous decision to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 252. Dodson beat Nathaniel Wood in February of 2020, winning by TKO; he lost a unanimous decision to Petr Yan in February of 2019, lost a unanimous decision to Jimmie Rivera in September of 2018 and won a split decision against Pedro Munhoz in March of 2018.

Gibson is 17-7 with seven knockouts and three submissions. He is 4-1 in his last five fights. He is coming off a first round knockout of Louie Sanoudakis at XMMA 2: Saunders vs. Nijem in July.  Gibson won a unanimous decision against Gustavo Erak at LFA 51 in September of 2018, lost to Adrian Diaz in May of 2017, won by KO against Kyle Reyes in November of 2016 and won a unanimous decision against Rolando Velasco in May of 2016.

Another key fight has Nate Marquardt taking on Valdir Araujo. Marquardt is 36-19-2 in his career with 11 knockouts and 17 submissions. Marquardt is 2-3 in his last five fights. He is coming off a submission win at Titan FC 71 in August. Marquardt lost a split decision to Cezar Ferreira in November of 2017, lost a unanimous decision to Vitor Belfort in June of 2017, lost a unanimous decision to Sam Alvey in January of 2017 and won by knockout against Tamdan McCrory in October of 2016.

Araujo is 18-9 in his career with seven knockouts and seven submissions. He is coming off a loss to Lucas Barbosa in November of last year. He lost to Oliver Taza in June of last year, beat John Combs in June of last year, beat Johnny Tama in June of last year and lost to Kyle Boehm in November of 2019.

Also on the card it is former UFC fighter John Howard taking on Tyler Ray. Howard is 29-16-1 in his career, with 10 knockouts and seven submissions while Ray is 8-2 with one knockout and four submissions.
