College Football Betting Online: The state of Texas is always a popular place for bowl games to be played, as it gives schools a chance to dip their toes in the water of recruiting in the Lone Star State that might not have normally gotten a chance to do so. One more bowl game was added to the bunch for 2017, the Frisco Bowl, a game that replaced the Miami Beach Bowl prior to it.
The 2017 Frisco Bowl will take place on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco. ESPN will have all of the action starting at 8 p.m. ET.
Frisco Bowl Format
When the bowl game was taken out of Miami, the need was there for yet another small-conference bowl game. The Frisco Bowl has an automatic tie-in with the AAC with the other tie-in left for a team that is coming from one of the smaller schools from the Sun Belt or the MAC.
In 2017, the intent was to have a Sun Belt team play in the Frisco Bowl. Without any firm tie-in to the game, though, the Sun Belt was passed over since it didn't have all that many bowl eligible teams. Thus, the Frisco Bowl was effectively given one of the last choices amongst the teams remaining who didn't have conference tie-ins to their bowls. Thus, it was Conference USA that ended up being represented, something that might end up becoming commonplace moving forward should no conference formally sign on with the Frisco Bowl.
