Kansas Jayhawks CFB Betting
At the onset of the season, the Kansas Jayhawks were touted as Big 12 championship material. Junior QB Jalon Daniels returned after losing almost all of the 2023 campaign due to injury. He also rejected NIL overtures from other programs to stay a Jayhawk. But Kansas may have been admiring its headlines too much. The Jayhawks flopped out of the gate with a 1-5 start, with all of the losses being in the excruciating category. KU could have won each of its losses except for a season-finale blowout at Baylor with a bowl game berth at stake.
Kansas had to play its home games in Kansas City this season while Memorial Stadium was renovated. Head coach Lance Leipold and his team look forward to getting back on track for 2025.
Kansas Jayhawks 2024 Season Recap
Kansas was a profoundly disappointing betting on college football using crypto brand this season.
Last game, the Kansas Jayhawks lost 45-17 against the Baylor Bears as 2.5-point road dogs. The game went to a push with a total of 62. Kansas has a record of 5-7 straight up, 5-7 against the spread, and 5-6-1 over/under the total. Kansas ranks 43rd for total offense, 88th for passing, 13th for rushing and 54th for scoring. Defensively, they rank 92nd overall, 103rd against the pass, 77th against the rush, and 76th for points allowed. Also, Kansas ranks 71st for fewest turnovers lost and 43rd for takeaways.
Sawyer Robertson threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns as Baylor won its sixth straight game. The Bears scored touchdowns on three consecutive possessions in the first half to take a 21-7 lead, then found the end zone on all three of their drives in the third quarter.
Bryson Washington ran for 192 yards on 27 carries, including a 10-yard TD run and punching in from the 1 in the second half. After starting 0-3 Big 12 play, Kansas entered on a three-game winning streak—all against ranked teams—to be in position for bowl eligibility with a win. But the Jayhawks had no answers for Baylor’s offense.
“It’s extremely disappointing because this team has overcome so much,” Kansas coach Lance Leipold said. “It’s been a roller-coaster year in many ways, and we didn’t fulfill expectations. We battled back. The locker room stayed together. To play a team like this that is playing really well and playing physical, and to do it on the road, is a challenge, and one that we didn’t answer.”
Devin Neal ran for 133 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries for Kansas. Jalon Daniels was 12-of-23 passing for 280 yards passing and had two passes intercepted by Baylor safety Devyn Bobby.
Robertson was 23-for-31 passing, with TDs of 36- and 39 yards to Monaray Baldwin in the first quarter before a 14-yard score to Josh Cameron in the second. Baldwin caught seven passes for 119 yards, and Cameron added eight receptions for 102.
The Jayhawks rarely had issues moving the ball in the first half. Despite trailing 21-10 at intermission, the Jayhawks had outgained Baylor 301-283. Their problems came with holding onto the ball and scoring when they had the chance. Tabor Allen missed a 38-yard field goal to end the Jayhawks’ first possession, and they had promising drives end on a Daniels interception and Tevita Noa fumble after a 39-yard reception.
The Bears made a remarkable turnaround in the second half of the season. They began the year with coach Dave Aranda’s future considered tenuous at best, and a 2-4 start only made calls for him to be replaced louder. But Aranda and Baylor haven’t lost since Oct. 5 against Iowa State.

It’s been a long time since Kansas experienced a sustained run of success on the football field. The best times for the program were in the 1900s when the Jayhawks produced a 53-9-4 record over a seven-season span, which included a 10-1 season in 1905. That stood as the school’s only double-digit win season for 90 years when the Jayhawks put together a 10-2 season in 1995.
In 1946, George Sauer took over the program after ten straight losing seasons, leading the Jayhawks to a 7-2-1 record. The following season, KU entered the AP rankings for the first time in school history, ending the year No. 12 after falling to Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl. It was the first of 12 bowl appearances for the Jayhawks, but Sauer left for another gig after the 8-1-2 campaign, and it would be another 14 years before the next bowl game.
There was intermittent success afterward but nothing sustainable. KU went 9-2 and was ranked as high as No. 3 in the AP poll in 1968, but followed that with a 1-9 campaign in 1969. The 1995 team posted the second 10-win season in history, won the Aloha Bowl, and reached No. 6 in the AP poll. But a 4-7 campaign followed. The greatest season in KU history took place in 2007 when Mangino guided the Jayhawks to a 12-1 record and an Orange Bowl win. They were ranked No. 2 during the year, the highest ever achieved by the program. Mangino was let go following the 2009 campaign, and the Jayhawks haven’t fully recovered.
But 4th-year head coach Lance Leipold is restoring Kansas to glory and with a new stadium ready for 2025.
