Liberty Flames CFB Week 13 Betting Lines
For Liberty Flames and head coach Jamey Chadwell, the honeymoon is over. Chadwell will need a lot of time to live down a dreadful road loss to the then-winless Kennesaw State Owls. Following that was a decisive home loss to the Jackson State Gamecocks, which was the dagger to Liberty’s College Football Playoff hopes. Since then, Chadwell’s charges mauled the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and then barely averted disaster with an overtime win on the road against the rotten UMass Minutemen. This week brings a potentially dangerous game against the WKU Hilltoppers.

In Week 13 college football action, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, the Liberty Flames will host the WKU Hilltoppers at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, VA. Kickoff time is 1 p.m. ET, and television coverage will be on ESPN Network.

WKU has a record of 7-3 straight up, 6-4 against the spread, and 4-6 over/under the total. WKU ranks 63rd for total offense, 28th for passing, 106th for rushing and 64th for scoring. UMass had a chance to win it on the final drive of regulation that started its 10-yard line. Freshman AJ Hairston had 15-yard completions to T.Y. Harding and Jakobie Keeney-James to get near midfield. Then Hairston connected with tight end Dominick Mazotti on consecutive plays to get to the Liberty 23.
UMass ran the clock before setting up Jacob Lurie's 43-yard attempt in the middle of the field. Liberty called a timeout just before the field goal and Lurie eventually missed it wide right.
Jalen John opened overtime with a 23-yard run, and he scored on the next play to give UMass the lead. But Lurie's point-after attempt hit the upright.
Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter picked up 8 yards on a first-down run, and Cooley followed with a 12-yard run before powering it in from the 5. Karhu made the PAT and was hoisted in the air by his teammate in celebration.

In 2018, Liberty University went Big Time with its football program. From 1988 to 2017, Liberty was a member of the FCS but graduated from the FBS in 2018. Turner Gill was the head coach for that first FBS season and went 6-6 to set a good foundation.
Hugh Freeze arrived in 2019 and produced four bowl games in four years. In 2020, Freeze led the Flames to a 10-1 season with a final national ranking of 17th. Freeze gave the Liberty program substantial credibility with his success at Ole Miss in the SEC. Freeze was innovative, dynamic, and a strong recruiter. He built a Liberty program built to sustain success.
In 2023, Jamey Chadwell arrived from Coast Carolina, where he became a Group of Five legend. Chadwell put together a spectacular first season as the Liberty head coach with a 13-1 record and a berth in the Fiesta Bowl. The Flames finished with a final national ranking of 25th and with the promise of a strong future.
