UCLA Bruins College Football Betting

The Bruins were a bottom-five offensive team in the Big Ten this season but did show flashes in certain areas where they were able to put up enough points to take down some of the conference's more historic programs. Struggling offensively for most of the season in the running game, the Bruins finished dead last in the conference and fourth worst nationally in rush yards per game (86.6). They were just one of two teams in the Big Ten to not average 100 rushing yards per game (Northwestern—98.5 yards per game).

UCLA Bruins 2024 Season Recap

UCLA was a better-than-expected betting on college football using crypto value but faded at the end.

Last game, the UCLA Bruins won 20-13 against the Fresno State Bulldogs as 7.5-point home favorites. The game went under the total of 46.5. UCLA has a record of 5-7 straight up, 6-6 against the spread, and 4-8 over/under the total. UCLA ranks 117th for total offense, 47th for passing, 131st for rushing and 126th for scoring. Defensively they rank 40th overall, 108th against the pass, 5th against the rush, and 71st for points allowed. Also, UCLA ranks 73rd for fewest turnovers lost and 73rd for takeaways.

The UCLA Bruins finish their season on the right note with a 20-13 win over the Fresno State Bulldogs at the Rose Bowl. Senior quarterback Ethan Garbers and tight end Moliki Matavao were the stars in the team's fifth win of the season.

It was a tale of two halves once again for the Bruins as they started extremely slow offensively, scoring just six points in the first half with two field goals from sophomore kicker Mateen Bhaghani. They also committed seven first-half penalties for a total of 75 yards with just four rushing yards.

The Bruins trailed the Bulldogs 10-6 at halftime and played one of their worst halves of football of the season. They made some drastic adjustments at halftime and executed incredibly well in the final 30 minutes, outscoring the Bulldogs 14-3 in the second half.

Junior running back T.J. Harden found the end zone on the opening drive of the second half to give the Bruins a lead that they would not lose. They would bookend the half with a Garbers 2-yard touchdown pass to receiver J. Michael Sturdivant to put the Bruins up ten late.

The Bulldogs settled for a field goal on their final drive in hopes of recovering an onside kick but were unsuccessful. Victory formation ensured, and the Bruins finished the season 5-7 with a big non-conference win on senior day.

Garbers had a sensational day, throwing for 289 yards with a touchdown and zero interceptions. His main target was senior Moliki Matavao, who was playing in the final game of his collegiate career. Matavao recorded 120 receiving yards on eight receptions, a career-high for the senior.

With just one penalty committed in the second half, the Bruins found a way to strengthen the discipline while establishing a competent running game with 70 second-half yards. Junior back Anthony Frias II played in just his third game of the season, earning a season-high 43 yards on 13 carries.

There are things to improve on going into next year, but this team's comeback to win four of its final six games after a 1-5 start was very promising.

Throwing the ball was how the Bruins excelled, finishing eighth in the conference in average passing yards per game (242.2). Senior quarterback Ethan Garbers was sensational in the final six games of the season and earned multiple clutch wins with his arm and the talent of his pass catchers.

Once upon a time, the UCLA Bruins were a national power in college football. This basketball school became known as a perennial Pac-12 title contender and top-10 team. From 1965 through 1998, UCLA finished in the national top 20 a total of 20 times.

And that included ten top-10 finishes. Since then, the going has been much tougher.

UCLA does not emphasize football like other national powers. It considers itself an all-sports school. But Oregon and USC are Pac-12 powers that invest more in football. And the results speak for themselves.

UCLA has 17 conference titles and two division championships. They have one national championship (1954). However, UCLA’s last conference championship was in 1998.

Past UCLA coaching greats include Tommy Prothro, Pepper Rodgers, Dick Vermeil, and Terry Donahue.

College Football Hall of Fame Bruins includes Troy Aikman, Gary Beban, Randy Cross, Tom Fears, Billy Kilmer, and Kohn Sciarra. The late great Jackie Robinson, who broke baseball’s color barrier, was a Bruin safety in 1939-40.
