2025 THE PLAYERS Championship PGA Online Betting
World No. 1 and two-time defending champion Scottie Scheffler is favored to win this week’s THE PLAYERS Championship, as he looks to make history, trying to become the first player to win the tournament three straight times. Golf’s unofficial fifth major is THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponta Vedra Beach, Florida. The event was moved some years ago from mid-May to mid-March. The event is known for the famous “Island Green” par-3 17th hole. The field for this event is just as good as all of the majors, with all of the world’s top ranked eligible players in the tournament, but unfortunately, LIV players are still not eligible. The PGA Tour has put this event into the elevated purse category which means a whopping $25 million dollar prize purse with the winner getting $4.5 million dollars. The winner also receives a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour and a three year invite to the Masters, U.S. Open and British Open. All of the top players on the PGA Tour are in the field with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler listed as the golf betting favorite, followed by World No. 2 Rory McIlroy. Those are the only two players listed at single-digit odds.
Catch all of the action at THE PLAYERS Championship from Thursday, March 13 through Sunday, March 16.

It is rare when the course gets the top billing at a tournament instead of the players in the event but that is the case with THE PLAYERS Championship. In reality, it is one hole that gets the spotlight and it is the 17th Island Green. The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass was designed in 1980 by Pete Dye and has a “stadium” concept where fans can watch a number of holes from bleacher type stands.
The big attraction at TPC Sawgrass is the Island Green on the 17th hole. The hole is just 132 yards but it is nothing but a green with a small bunker in front. It is all or nothing on this hole as it is completely surrounded by water. The best pros in the world hit it into the water and when you count in all of the tourists who play the course, it is estimated that more than 100,000 golf balls are fished out of the water every year. The record for most balls in the water on the 17th hole in THE PLAYERS Championship was set in 2007 when 93 balls splashed down.
