The PGA Tour has put this event into the elevated purse category which means a whopping $25 million dollar prize purse with the winner getting $4.5 million dollars. The winner also receives a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour and a three year invite to the Masters, U.S. Open and British Open. The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass was designed in 1980 by Pete Dye and has a “stadium” concept where fans can watch a number of holes from bleacher type stands.

The big attraction at TPC Sawgrass is the Island Green on the 17th hole. The hole is just 132 yards but it is nothing but a green with a small bunker in front. It is all or nothing on this hole as it is completely surrounded by water.
