European Tour Golf Betting Odds: If you're a player hovering right around the Top 60 in the "Race to Dubai" standings, you're certainly going to want to make sure you have a good weekend at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. This is the last event before the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, and only the Top 60 players on the European PGA Tour will get the right to play in the season-ending event.
All of the action at the Nedbank Golf Challenge will take place from Thursday, November 9 through Sunday, November 12, 2017.
2017 Nedbank Golf Challenge At a Glance
Course: Gary Player Country Club, Sun City, South Africa
Par: 288
Course Length: 7,831 yards
Defending Champion: Alexander Noren
Tournament Record: -25 (263)
If you're going to win at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, you'd better be a long hitter. This course is incredibly long at 7,831 yards, and there are a lot of incredibly long Par 4s on this Gary Player-designed course in South Africa.
History though, suggests that scores are going to be pretty darn low. Much of the pressure though, isn't going to be on who wins the event, rather who does enough (or doesn't do enough as the case may have it) to stick around for the last tournament of the season in Dubai.
The 2017 season marks the second time this tournament will be a part of the European Tour Final Series, and the prize fund of $7.5 million is one of the biggest on the Euro PGA Tour.

This Gary Player course plays significantly different dependent upon how the weather plays out and whether the course is wet or windy at all. We've seen winners of the Nedbank Golf Challenge fire 263s, and we've seen winners struggle just to stay above par. The highest score to ever win this event was David Frost back in 1990 when he shot a -4, 284.
The 2016 edition of the event featured Alexander Noren winning by six strokes with a -14 score. You have to go back to 2012 to find the last time a score was anywhere near that high to win the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
What should be noted is that the Nedbank Golf Challenge has only been a sanctioned European PGA Tour event for the last handful of years. Before 2013, this was an event which was more or less just an invite-only affair, and golfers from all over the world showed up because of the massive prize pool, including a high of $2 million from 2000 through 2002.

Success tends to come in bunches for the top golfers in the world at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. Though the last five winners have all been first-timers, prior to that, Lee Westwood went back-to-back in 2010 and 2011. That wasn't nearly the first time that a golfer won consecutive events at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. Jim Furyk did so in 2005 and 2006, Ernie Els won events in 1999 and 2000 (and followed that up with a third win in 2002), Nick Price won in 1997 and 1998, David Frost won consecutive events in 1989 and 1990 (and, like Els, won three times in four years with his championship in 1992), and Seve Ballesteros captured the Nedbank Golf Challenge in 1983 and 1984.
No one has won this tournament four times quite yet, but interestingly enough, all three men who have won it three times did so in back-to-back years at some point. Els, Price and Frost are the three three-time winners of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

If you plan on winning the Nedbank Golf Challenge at this point, you'd better be ready to crush your competition. The last two years have featured winners posting final margins of victory of six strokes, and that means that Alexander Noren and Marc Leishman are the only two men to do better than -13 on the links in this event.
However, none of these golfers, in spite of their fantastic days, did anything to crack the top scores ever at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. Four men have scored at least -21 and have won the Nedbank Golf Challenge, led by Ernie Els, who shot a tournament record -25, 263 in 1999, his first of three titles here in his homeland of South Africa.
