2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open PGA Online Betting
The PGA Tour heads to Texas this week for the Texas Children’s Houston Open where the world’s top two ranked players lead the field. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is listed as the favorite, while World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is the second choice in PGA betting odds. Scheffler has finished in a tie for second twice in this event, while McIlroy will be playing in this tournament for the first time since 2014. The event has been played at many golf courses in its history including the Golf Club of Houston before moving to the Memorial Park Golf Course in 2020. The tournament had been held the week before the Masters but that changed in 2019 when it moved to the fall. The event moved back to the spring in 2024 and now it is held two weeks before the Masters. It was thought that the event could be used as a Masters prep for many of the world’s top players and Scheffler and McIlroy have indeed chosen to play the event in 2025 and then take next week off. Texas Children’s Hospital is signed as the tournament’s sponsor until 2029. Stephan Jaeger is the defending champion.
Catch all of the action at the Houston Open from Thursday, March 27 through Sunday, March 30.

Texas Children’s Houston Open odds have Scheffler favored with McIlroy the second choice and then it is a big gap down to Aaron Rai as the third choice. Scheffler and McIlroy are the only top 10 players using this event as a tune-up for the Masters in two weeks. Many other players are choosing to play in next week’s Valero Texas Open as their Masters prep. Listed at surprisingly long odds this week are four recognizable names, as Wyndham Clark, Tony Finau, Jason Day and Sungjae Im are listed at odds of +3400 each.

In recent years the list of winners in this tournament is not a marquee list because most of the top players skip this event, but Tony Finau did get the win in 2022. The names of Jager, Kokrak, Ortiz, Griffin, Poulter, Henley, Herman, Holmes, Jones, Points and Mahan are definitely not a who’s who list of golfers. The Houston Open was not always scheduled before the Masters, so there are some big names on the list, including Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Vijay Singh.

Two players, Curtis Strange and Vijay Singh have won this event three times and a number of players have won the event twice. It could be that a player challenges that record with the tournament scheduled to take place two weeks before the Masters.

Singh holds the record at 22-under par, but that mark was nearly equaled in 2017, as Henley finished just two shots off the record. It is a little bit surprising that the mark by Singh has held up through the years, but it is not easy in most tournaments to shoot better than 20-under par.
