2021 The Northern Trust Betting
The first event in the FedExCup Playoffs is The Northern Trust, held at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. It will be the fourth time the course has hosted the event. This event had been known as The Barclays, but Northern Trust took over title sponsorship in 2017. The Northern Trust is usually held at the best courses in the New York-New Jersey area including Glen Oaks in Old Westbury. The top 125 players in the FedExCup standings qualify for this event, although some of the top players can choose to bypass this event, knowing they have already qualified for next week’s BMW Championship.
Catch all of the action at The Northern Trust from Thursday, August 19 through Sunday, August 22.

Even though this event is the start of the FedExCup Playoffs it doesn’t always feature high profile winners. This is not a critical event for the top players in the world, as they already have enough points to advance to next week’s event. Players like Hunter Mahan, Nick Watney and Heath Slocum have all won this event in the last couple of decades, but Dustin Johnson has won the title three times in the last 10 years.

Can we just give this all-time record to Johnson and just forget about it? He shot an unreal 30-under par to win the event in 2020. Not only did he win with an amazing score, he won by a whopping 11 shots. You almost have to feel bad for Harris English, as his 19-under par would have tied the previous best winning score. Four players have shot 19-under par in this event to win including Jason Day in 2015 and Dustin Johnson in 2011.
