Southampton F.C. English Premier League Odds
It took a long time for Southampton to make it to the top tier of English football, but once they got there the Saints didn’t want to relinquish their spot. The Saints first made it to the top flight in 1966, and since then they have been masterful at finding ways to survive. They have never won a league championship, and the Saints have only had one top four finish, but there is something to be said about a club that refuses to go down.
Southampton has just one trophy to its name. The Saints won the 1976 FA Cup over Manchester United, pulling off one of the biggest upsets in the competition’s history. At the time, Southampton was in the second tier of English football, and the Saints didn’t even finish in the top five that year. They have finished runners-up in the competition three times, and they have also finished runners-up for the League Cup twice as well.

Southampton went on a pretty impressive run after they returned to the Premier League in 2013. The Saints survived in their first year, and then they ran off a four-year streak of finishing in the top eight. That led to two berths in the Europa League, and their fans hoped that could end up being the start of a run of continued success.
The wheels came off last year though, with the Saints narrowly avoiding relegation. Manager Mauricio Pellegrino was sacked two-thirds of the way through the campaign, and Mark Hughes was called in to assure the team stayed in the Premier League. Things were dicey for a while, but the Saints were able to pick up a result in their last three road games and that ensured their survival.
This offseason, Southampton’s board made a sizeable financial commitment to the club after years of selling off their best young talent. The Saints spent 55 million pounds on four young players, shoring up perceived weaknesses. The goal this year is to get back into the middle of the table.
