FC Porto UEFA Champions League Odds
There aren’t many clubs that have had the success that Porto has had, both domestically and abroad. At home, Porto has ruled Portugal’s Primeira Liga along with rivals Benfica and Sporting Lisbon. Porto has been able to win 28 league championships and 16 domestic cups since their founding, and the Dragons are the only team in Portuguese football to finish a season undefeated. The club accomplished that feat during the 2010-11 campaign and repeated it in 2012-13.
Porto has been able to get it done in European competition as well. The club turned a lot of heads when they won the Champions League title during the 1986-87 campaign, beating favored Bayern Munich 2-1 in the final thanks to late goals from Rabah Madjer and Juary.
The club’s grandest success came during the short tenure of Jose Mourinho. Mourinho was only with Porto for 2.5 years, but in his first full season he led the club to a Europa League title after an extra time win over Celtic. He followed that up by leading Porto to its second-ever Champions League title on the strength of a stout defense. After beating Manchester United and Lyon in the knockout round, Porto did not allow a goal in either leg of their semifinal tie with Deportivo La Coruna and cruised to a 3-0 win over Monaco in the final.
Since then, the club has added another trophy, winning the 2010-11 Europa League.

Porto has been a mainstay in the Champions League this decade. The club has made it to the Champions League in seven of the last eight seasons, but they have only made it past the Round of 16 once over this timespan. They were finally able to break one of their longest streaks without a domestic title last year, ending Benfica’s four-year run at the top of the table.
It might be tough for Porto to make it out of the Group Stage this year. The club sold off almost their entire back line over the summer, and it’s going to take some time to find a combination that works. Ricardo Pereira, Diogo Dalot, and Willy Boly were all gobbled up by Premier League teams and will be hard to replace.
Porto’s hope is that their scouting department earned their money this summer. The club brought over Chancel Mbemba from Newcastle, and he is expected to be the centerpiece of the new look back line. Joao Pedro and Eder Militao were brought over from Brazilian clubs, and the youngsters will be counted upon this season.
