Girona FC Spanish La Liga Odds
It took 87 years for Girona to make it to the top flight of Spanish football, and now that they are here they are looking to stake out a place in La Liga. For most of Girona’s history, the club has been in the second- or third-division of the Spanish league. Over the last two decades, they have had more success than their supporters could have imagined though.
Girona fell out of the Spanish league system at the tail end of the 1990s. The club played for two years in the regional Catalonia league before finding their way and slowly moving up the rungs of the Spanish tier system. This is the most success the club has ever had, and staying afloat in La Liga long enough to build up resources is essential at this point.

Girona’s first season in La Liga was a smashing success. The club was one of the favorites to be relegated back down to the Segunda Division, yet they managed to stay up and finish in the top half of the table too. Christhian Stuani played a big part in that, by notching an incredible 21 goals last season. He was one of the top scorers in La Liga, and that kind of success is rarely seen from newly promoted teams.
This season, Stuani is back as well as most of last year’s contributors. Girona looks set to essentially run it back with much of the same lineup and aren’t keen on shaking things up too much after overachieving in their La Liga debut season. They did bring aboard two defenders during the summer transfer window in Marc Muniesa and Johan Mojica that should see valuable time though.
